"regular" AFTW isn't aged in scotch barrels... so I'm assuming the answer is yes.

Hopefully, a keg will show up at the tasting room at some point, as I'm a big fan of Ardbeg single malt scotch, and I'd love to try this version of AFTW.

Single Malt Adam was on tap at HotD back in early August. Is it the same beer?

I go to the tasting room a lot, but I never saw that beer on tap, so I can't say. I'm tempted to say no, as it's pretty uncommon to see AFTW on tap, and usually it's a pretty big deal when they have it (so lot's of posts about it in the forum). A version aged in scotch barrels... that seems like something that would have created it's own post and thread. :-)

For what it's worth, I'll ask Wendy about it if I run into her this weekend. I hadn't planned on coming up to Portland again this weekend, but of course with the Holiday Ale fest running this weekend... anyway, I'll try to stop by on Saturday or Sunday, and see if I can get some additional information about it (as in... what about us here in PDX? What about our needs? Are we going to see any of this Ardbeg AFTW up here at any point? Hmmmmm???).

It was on tap back in August in the tasting room. I was surprised to see any type of AFTW on, so thats why I ordered it - It was on August 17th (so my untappd tells me).

Im not a single malt scotch guy, or a scotch guy at all - so maybe thats why I didn't like it, but honestly you couldn't tell there was a beer in there. So mother-effin peaty!

    I'm excited for:
    Tweak
    De struise
    Commons
Elevation (never had or heard of these beers until recently)
    AAFTW
    Iron fist
    Berserker
    Perennial
    Reuben's
    Sound
And add 3 special tappings of god knows what, that'll be spendy. Meh I'll share with others:slight_smile:

Seems that way. Alan tweeted on August 3: "Single Malt Adam is on tap now. Aged in Ardbeg whisky barrels this Beer is full of peat like no other. Best in tasters, Like kissing the bog"

My wife and I stopped by that afternoon for a couple tasters. She loves peaty and smoky scotch, but even she wasn't sure she liked that beer much. (To be fair, it was August, and Single Malt Adam is probably a lot more enjoyable on a 30-degree night than a 90-degree afternoon.)

I thought the first time it came out it was better, but this last time it was a peat bomb. Wasn't a fan.

@Phobicsquirrel I agree. Adam is a strongly flavored beer to begin with, but the Ardbeg barrel just obliterated it. That said, I'd love to try a 50-50 blend of Adam and Single Malt Adam.

Yeah, I think more of the base would have helped.

Is Suge Knight always barrel aged? I had it on tap once and I swear it was BA but I thought i always was...im confusing myself but I guess a 14% beer will do that.

The website lists two versions, the regular Suge K and the bourbon barrel aged version. Whenever I see a tap list that references a barrel aged version, I always assume they're talking about the bourbon barrel aged version. However, the website description of the regular suge k mentions flavor nuances of oak and whiskey, so that tends to make me think the regular version is barrel aged as well (just not in bourbon barrels, I would assume).

    That's all I know.

Out of curiosity, what were the other 11? And, out of the same impulse, does anyone know what the "surprise" 6pm tapping was? Like Cherche, I was tempted to go, but couldn't bring myself to go alone.

We should have both gone and pretended like we knew each other and it would have made us look less pathetic...
