100% true on this. Drinking a Bean Gene this very moment. $15 out of the taproom at Rev. As much as I love Bourbon County this was zero wait at the taproom for any Rev barrel aged beer and you could buy as little or as much as you wanted

I'm not a big fan if the BA Genes. Straight Jacket, on the other hand....

don't forget the Central Waters Bourbon Stout. the "poor man's" bcbs. if you didn't get a chance to score some bcbs, that is a pretty good alternative and cheaper.

Straight Jacket, Deths Tar, Gravedigger Billy, Very Mad Cow...all outstanding. Grab a Blue Gene if you haven't tried it before, that will change your mind on the Genes

I'll have to try a Blue Gene. I'm a big fan of all the others mentioned there; i was just the Genes that seemed a miss for me. Well, with the exception of Huge and E. Norma., but those are getting into different territory.

There should be a coffee Deth's Tar on the way soon, a few barrels were jammed with Dark Matter beans. And on the last trip there was 2 cognac barrels filled with Straight Jacket. Anxiously awaiting word on tappings

I would recommend scorched earth. They had four beers on tap last week at the beer market. I was impressed with the porter and rauchbier.

I'm from algonquin. I stopped by scorched earth right when they first opened. I had their berliner. It was pretty damn good for a first attempt.

Honestly, I love the idea, and if there were a small group of brewers in charge, it could happen. Give me a petition and I'll sign it. But this is a product that will continue to get nationwide release, and the Illuminati that runs Bud will never subscribe to this plan. It's going to come down to the will of individual retailers as long as this is a Bud product.

And that's fine. Save the DLDs and the KBSs for the little guys. That is no longer what BCS is, like it or not.

I have been meaning to get out there. I am in buffalo grove, so it is a bit of a trip, but I love trying new stuff.

I'll keep that one in mind for when it gets closer to summer. It looks like it's pretty much a straight shot west on Cuba from the Long Grove area. Cuba is one of my main cycling roads, so should be a fun ride.

Its' not a game, it's a consumable that's been made nearly unattainable in package to those without a pretty huge amount of dedication.

Does anyone have any insight regarding if all the varients in the marketplace by now? I'm in Chicago for the weekend and debating if I even make an attempt to track any down.

Stopped into foremost on kedzie this afternoon. Dude told me earlier they were expecting a small shipment today. I've been dying to get my hands on some coffee and barley wine. I of course would love more prop and vanilla too but I've realized that's just not in the cards. I walk in and ask if they got any. I am not a regular here, although I just moved to the neighborhood and it's super close. Yeah we got barley wine he says. 45.99. Pass. Don't think I'll be a regular there...

We are not "drowning" in BCBS as you say. Sure there are tap takeovers, special events, etc. but A) the taps run dry after a couple of hours (not days) and B) I'm not paying $15-$20 (bar prices) for a 9-10oz pour of Vanilla or Prop, that's just ridiculous. Sure, some places sell bombers, but the $40-50 price tag is bullshit.

Sounds like you don't leave your house. My pours are typically between 5 and 12 dollars. And yes, these are typically "events" but sometimes an out of the way bar will put BCBS on and it'll sit for days. Try using Beer Menus to find these bars. Forty to Fifty dollar bombers are bullshit, fuck those people.

Can someone cut and paste the explanation from the guy that got the Walgreens manager to sell the bottles early? Someone said it was on Facebook.
