Anchorage Brewing A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL

Had this beer 3 times last year as some select portland bars got bottles for tasting events. Still ranks as one of the finest beers I have ever had. So high in ABV yet perfectly balanced and not "hot" at all.

Hopefully we get some in PDX, I will definitely buy a bottle. If anybody in Alaska wants to trade for anything I can get in Portland, let me know. (Abyss, Ale Apothecary, Upright, Mogli, Firstone Stuff, etc. etc.)

 

Wish i had 1) the money and 2) the time to help everyone out as there is plenty of this to go around up here, the store i took that shot in had 18 cases of it and the picture only shows 4 of them the rest are other Anchorage beers.

 

I appreciate the gesture. Any Termination Dust settling around you?

 

Are there any Kentucky sightings yet?

 

Haven't been looking for it but just read a post that said there is still some on the shelves in anchorage. ill take a look on friday when i restock

 

three shops in Juneau are on the list to get bottles. not sure how much will show up, but seeing as how Fairbanks got ONE case last year for the whole town, and one shop there got 25 cases this year, I'm guessing we'll get a decent amount. Word on the street is it will show up today or friday.

A part of me wishes I had never gotten to try it so that I wouldn't know what I was missing

And Darkest Hour is fantastic as well. Luckily, I have a bottle of that one.

I'm thinking this batch is big enough it will see large Shelton distro. I sure hope so anyways!

Today's haul. All the ADWTD is spoken for sorry guys. The termination dust and smoked porter are up for grabs tho.

Any word if this has dropped in Northern California yet? Or even will?

 

Has anyone tried cellaring the smoked porter? A few of the beer shops around me have some 2012 bottles. Seems like the alcohol content is a bit low at 6.5%. If folks have had positive experiences I might pick one up. Loved the last bottle I had.

 

Just opened a 2007 Alaskan Smoked Porter over thanksgiving and it was quite good. I'm sure that the smoke profile faded a bit but I think that in some earlier vintages it was pretty heavy anyway. Don't have any more 2007 but I've probably got 5-6 more pre 2011s that I expect will be just as tasty. Go for it.

In other news.... I would love to get a few bottles of ADWTD. Having had some of Gabe's previous barley wines... I can imagine it's incredible.

 

I had some 2003 on tap a couple years ago and it was awesome. Still had a hint of smoke but it was velvety smooth and chocolatey.
