Ok guys, it is Sacrameto beerweek. A few places in town got some Younger Kegs. Well, a few places charged what I would consider, fair prices for the beer, ranging from 5-10$ a glass, some even less.

Well, one bar/restaurant got real ballzy. They offered a pint of Younger paired with a 14$ burger for 45$. Hell, that adds up to a 31$ pint of Younger.

The Restaurant is Kupros in Sacramento. Fucking wow to most of you, I know.

The story gets better. The folks at Russian River caught word and are upset.

Now, Kupros says, they made a mistake with the initial offer, and are now charging 1$ for a 6 ounce pour tommorrow. After tomorrow, it doesn't matter. They will no longer get any Russian River beers.

My question to you guys is, too late to fix being an anus? Or forgive them and accept the 1$ pour? I personally think, "fuck you Kupros", and will just pass. I don't like the attempt at charging an obscene price for a beer that shouldn't be 31$ a pint IMO. I like that they will no longer get any RR beers, give them to better places IMO.

Just thought I would share with you fellow beer friends. Cheers.

You have to have some balls to charge $31 for a pint.

They made the decision to price it like that- it wasn't an accident- so let 'em reap what they sow.

Apparently their balls were crushed by Russian River, because they feel like anuses and are now charging 1$ for 6 ounces.

Unless they made that hamburger out of solid gold, there's no way that price makes any sense.

    Mmmmm, gold hamburger.

if RR would have done pints of younger it would still be about 3x the cost and cost of transportation isn't that high. I have a hard time spending that much on a single pour of beer. Even a commemorative pint glass wouldn't cover the difference between what they want and what I'd pay.

The Yard in Santa Monica hosted a regular Beer Freek series last year. One of them featured Black Tuesday and Chocolate rain bottle pours. $50. Not a terrible price for two pretty rare beers, right? Did I mention those were ONE OUNCE pours of each?

To be fair, that also included 4oz pours of beers you could get at liquor stores around town like Saison de Lente and Loakal Red.

The only reason I will visit them is to walk in and ridicule them in person. Maybe walk up think about what I want to order and then in a very authoritative voice proclaim Wait, this is that shithole that wanted $45 for a burger and glass of Younger, you get none of my business.

They knew exactly what they were doing, hoping to make some quick cash. They will not get any business from me.

That price is rediculous but I bet people paid for it. The part about "Kupros made a mistake...", that is funny, they didn't make a mistake, they got called out and went into damage control. Pretty sad, this happens too often.

Didn't Pangea do something similar? My understanding is that they had a PtY night, where in order to get in you had to buy a $70 ticket, because they were hosting a performance by some singer nobody's heard of. And once you paid to get, I would assume you had to still pay whatever for the Younger. Not very cool, IMO. Anybody go? I'm curious what kind of turnout they got.

All I can say is, you won't catch me paying $31 for pint or paying $70 to get into a room where I can buy one, not even for the Younger. Seriously, there are just too many great, great beers out there that are readily available to justify putting up that kind of bullshit.
