And furthermore, young man, when I first tried La Trappe Quadrupel, it had yet to become a 'style'...

Yes. They got a couple Milkeller Christmas brews too. I've never seen any Mikkeller there before. The St. Bernardus is really good so definitely worth picking up.

Perhaps it is an issue of semantics here? La Trappe coined the 'name' of Quadrupel, and the Americans coined it as a 'style'?

I suppose anything is possible but I am still awaiting enlightenment from @Zimbo .

LordCrabapple IS CORRECT. It was intended as a name of a beer not of a style. Simple.

Sort of getting the impression that all work and no play is making Jack a bit of a dull boy here.

Sometimes the St. Bernardus beers come packaged like this

But I'm not sure I've ever seen an all-Abt 12 version.

It is indeed a sweet glass.

I filled up my glass with a homebrewed Cranberry Belgian Pale Ale for your viewing pleasure:

    Quads are just strong Dubbels.

Kept a case in my basement untouched since last winter. I could have assumed as much, but wow, this one ages well. So much smoother than when it was fresh.

A solution to a problem that isn't actually a problem: I dub these beers "quadubbles"

    Dubbels are just weak quads.
