Posting PI is not allowed, even in egregious cases like this. It's a good rule. I think people who have additional info on this creep are sharing it privately.

He's used st least 3 names. Which of those is real? Perhaps none of them.

Going forward, nothing replaces due diligence when trading. And nothing will make the world a perfectly safe place. As noted, we assume the risks when we trade. For me at least, it's been well worth it so far.

Here are the pics. In hindsight, yes this is a terrible wax job and I should have known. So I take full responsibility and I feel like an idiot as I'm sure people are going to look at it and say "How did he not know that's a fake?" Again, it was early on when I wasn't aware of what the wax should look like, but it's on me to spot stuff like that. In the end, I'm not out a huge loss, so it's a lesson learned. Hopefully if anyone is seeing something like this for the first time, then they are more informed for future trades.

As for the make-up box. No need to worry about me. Make sure @yoitsarch gets taken care of, for sure. He's the one that posted and then when the mods outed his aliases, then that's what put 1 and 1 together for me.

Not something that we can fix but as I'm drinking a Wicked Weed Dark Arts I realized that their wax seal couldn't have this done to it because of the little Wicked Weed emblem pressed into the wax while still warm. Maybe these kind of seals will be the next step for some brewers.

 

Dude, that's absurd to blame yourself and you shouldn't take responsibility for shit. I've been trading for years and I may not have noticed a shitty wax job (unless the bottles were from a brewery I was familar with) until I saw this thread. Unfortunately for you and the others it was a pretty hard lesson learned but I promise you it was also a lesson learned for the rest of us.

We have a nice community here, as evidenced by all the people in this thread trying to make things right for something they had nothing to do with, and you guys were taken advantage of by some f face that violated your trust. This is something that has rarely happened and its not the norm. Yes, most of us could take more precautions (actually contacting references, etc) but this mf'er was a low life scammer who took the meaning of a bad trader to a whole new level.

Im a firm believer in beer karma and karma in general. Bad things happen to bad people and this scum will eventually get what's coming to him.

Even so, some breweries get volunteers to wax bottles. I wouldn't doubt that there are a couple "less than perfect" bottles that could've been waxed by someone who was doing it for the first time.

 

@GreatGazoo and @BlackNotesIII have both reached out to me and we are in the process of working out trades. I'm not one to just accept charity without proper reciprocation. I cannot thank these two enough for their generosity.

Wax jobs are all over the place as far as how much wax is used, how neatly it's done, how consistent it is from bottle to bottle. You can't be responsible for the actions of a scamming schmuck fuck crook. This thread has indicated he's been actively ripping people off for years. It could be even longer.

Unfortunately, even as we've learned a bit here I imagine he has too.

I was fortunate to get two bottles, one of which a somewhat regular trading partner extra'd me and I already drank

I only have one left so I can only help out one person (whoever pm's me first). I don't want nor will I accept anything for it but as I said, you have to meet the criteria above.

Edit: you must have already mentioned not getting the Assassin in this thread or have overwhelming evidence that this chump screwed you out of an Assassin (I won't be the next victim of a thief)

 

Exactly. You don't start off by ripping people off with different shades and consistencies of wax. He's progressed pretty far, it seems.
