This is by far the coolest LIF I've ever seen.

so did anyone win this or you guys just decided to build up lots of hype and then drink your beers?

i really hope this wasn't just a rep builder LIF...kind of like all those who post when someone gets burned that they will send a box and then never do? was there a winner? i know there weren't many submissions and those of us who did positive things did so to be positive...entering this LIF was a bonus and hopefully an instigator to create more positiveness, but....???

really hope this wasn't a charity bucket that ended up not going to charity. i drop my extra change in those all the time...perhaps i'm the naive one, but i believe in the goodness of charity and people?

Meh, at this point we might as well write it off. There isn't really any point in getting upset about what would have been free beer, especially since the actions necessary to win didn't seem that Herculean. I consider this one closed without resolution.

I would give OPs a chance to respond. I'd prefer to think the glass is half full on this one. That list is bananas.

Depends on what you chose to do, the $ invested in the LIF were substantial for me - in as much as the $ accounted for my beer budget for two-three months (shipping costs, magazine and other purchases, purchasing beer to ship, the subsequent LIF I ran etc...). Happy I did what I did, and not particularly upset about this not being resolved yet as I believe 100% it will be, the "Dude" was meant more as a friendly poke than to start anything. I'm certainly not impugning anyone; HayesEZ is one of the 3 people on this site I would ship a box to first, without any expectation of a return box until he was able to get one out. Given his past generosity I probably still owe him another 'thank you' box.

I've chatted w/ Ridglens about it, the last time a little more than 6 weeks ago. He's got other stuff going on, sounds like good stuff, but still stuff... Like I said above, was just meant as a friendly poke to keep the wheels in motion as I know he's got the intention to finish this off but is also trying to finish it off in style.

while i agree that this is a LIF (free beer given out of being kind and generous) and not a trade or anything that would warrant a warning on either of these BAs, i've seen and heard lots of accounts of people making statements in the forums that make them look great, but don't back them up. you'd be shocked to see how many people cry out that they will send someone beer when they get taken by a bad trader or are in need or whatever only to never be heard of again. someone reading that thread says to themselves...wow, such and such is a stand up BA, i'll be sure to look out for them in the future.

don't get me wrong, boxes DO go out in those instances and many people are as good as their word, but i'd put the number at way less than 50% of the people who claim that they will help out. the more BAs that i meet in person and become friendly with in real life, the more stories along these lines i have heard...and the names that i hear tied to those unfulfilled offers to help out are almost always shocking and people that you would guess would definitely back those claims up. surprisingly, you also come to learn that a lot of the trades that people suggest go down also don't go down. BA has its share of sneaky people.

ultimately this is Ridglens and HayesEZ LIF and they are free to do whatever they like including not follow through on it (after all it is their beer and their contest and life seems to happen quite a bit on BA - and for good reason, beer should not be the most important thing in our lives). as one of the few entrants i was curious if a winner was ever picked after the deadline and the thread went away. just seemed weird to me to carry the thread to the new forums a few days before the deadline and then never be heard from again. if they weren't into it, they very easily could've let it die with the old forums, but they carried it over to the new forum so inquiring minds (especially participants) are going to be curious.

i poked at it one more time in May and looks like cooper poked it in june. no harm, no foul, just poking it to see if it is alive and breathing. i wouldn't necessarily call it dead and i also wouldn't necessarily expect it to be completed, but there was a lot of fanfare around this one shortly before the forums went 2.0. in the end no one was burned...but at the same time this LIF was never closed. at this point, i could definitely tick off more rules as being completed just by circumstance and getting to know other beer geeks...but doesn't seem like it would matter. i just hope that the surprise bottle they were throwing in wasn't an IPA

Curious, is that all? Then why would you suggest they backed out of this one? Why not simply come in and say "hey dudes, where we at on this one"?

never suggested that they backed out, but was hoping that they hadn't (but if it quacks like a duck...? i think i would suggest it now). i'm still trying to give them the benefit of the doubt despite no word in almost 4 months. but to your point, i guess we should just reach out and ask...so:

hey dudes, where are we at on this one?
