As they said, not to step on CW's toes. They are just adding to people already heading up there, giving them another beer related thing to do without competing with the Cdub anniversary party.

I think it's smart for the region. And I do think there will still be some bottles left on Saturday, which should allow them to sell out in a weekend. Should work out for everyone.

That being said, I don't think they need to worry about competing with CW's anniversary. If nothing else, it would make that day more festive to have Funk Factory bottles added to it. The more the merrier. I just don't know too many folks who are going to spend Friday night and Saturday night up there.

Any word on what will be released 12/20? Figure it'll be the brandy wheat, bourbon distraction, and coconut night train?

While that's nice and all, if they're truly only allowing pick-up on the 23rd, that's screwing over a lot of people.

For many supporters of any or all of the 3 breweries, it's an investment in time and money to travel to that area, put yourself up for the night, etc. Fuel, meals, etc (childcare?) all add up. To stick people with another night of lodging/meals/etc seems a bit shitty.

I get having the party the night before, that's cool and it avoids the overlap, but not everyone can swing an entire weekend like that and as a result they're going to miss out.

I know, 1st world problems and all that

    Infection and undercarbonation, probably.

Nah, but I seriously hope they get their shit together. I liked all the BANTs that I had on tap there, but the bottles were abominations.

ya OSO is a great place with great people and makes great beer, but the QC issues really are a inconvenient distraction : )

First off, Friday is the brew/coolship filling day. They want to make that a party.

I think the main problem with adding pickup time on Saturday is timing. O'so taphouse doesn't open until 3:00, which is when the CW party starts. They can't open early because they will be filling barrels and need all hands on deck for that. With a staff the size of O'so's, they would have to have all the brewers switch gears to help, and all the other staff come in just to handle a huge rush of people at open. Not to mention that those people there for bottles will be antsy to leave as soon as possible to get to Amherst.

Sometimes I think people grossly overestimate how many people work at a brewery and the resources they have available. It's insanely hard to handle even 100 people in a timely manner unless its all hands on deck.

    From the source via facebook:

A few people have been asking, so:
Having Friday pick up and not Saturday is a logistics issue for us. Friday evening, after the brewing is finished and the wort is boiling, we can clear out the brewery and set up for the party. However, Saturday morning, we have to empty the coolship, fill barrels, and clean the brew system. There isn't space for people to be walking through the brewery to pick up bottles. I understand not everyone is able to make it Friday for the party (though you really should come check out the coolship!), and for that reason we are allowing trustees. If you are coming Saturday for CW, I know there are many people willing to grab your bottles and hold them for a day, just ask around.

Thanks for making this party/release happen!

The last couple of years I've picked up my bottles at CW then go to O'so Taproom for the evening. It's less crowded and after standing in line to buy my allotment of beers I don't feel like standing in line for the rare taps. I wish they would spread out the rare tappings to all of the stations. Lines wouldn't be as long.

Solid plan. I've had most of CW's rare offerings (I do wish they'd put out more one-off IPA's and the like) so maybe I can talk our folks into hitting up O'so after as well.

There is no 12/20 release. All bottles will be released Jan 23rd at the Coolship Party. You can reserve bottles starting this Wed at noon for the party, but bottles must be picked up at the party. Read the details of the BPT site before purchasing.

@FFGeuzeria Thanks for the update. Are you working off that coolship, or one in Madison? (I'm guessing that you're in the process of getting your Madison Geuzeria up and running- any ETA's?)

The coolship is actually mine. And yes, I'm working on getting the Geuzeria established in Madison, though it will essentially be a barrel warehouse.

Do you plan on having a taproom eventually? What about bottle sales at the barrel house? I love everything you've done so far and I look forward to everything coming in the future!
