I do agree with you but it makes sense. If the barrel numbers were similar this year to last, there was I believe something like triple the barrels for BW that there was for coffee.

Well I'll definitely be bringing this up with my AB rep and see how far up the chain I can get to find an explanation. If NYC truly got doubly charged for no reason, or if this was another number entry error, I'll definitely raise as much as hell as possible. I'll keep you guys updated if I hear anything of note.

And I too have heard about AB forcing shops to carry GI core products in order to get in on Bourbon County cases...this has never been the case with my store, maybe it's my rep, or maybe I'm just lucky, but that shit should NOT be going on, or tolerated by any retailer.

This isn't on GI or even AB. Look at Union (NYC). Yes you have to buy in order to acquire cases of harder releases. It happens with all big breweries. The explanation is simple. This years coffee was hella limited and they know people were going to buy it regardless.

i posted this in this thread already, but at the park slope food coop, where there's the same markup from wholesale on every single item in the coop (no loss leaders or premiums), regular, coffee and barleywine were all sold for the same price, around $21 per 4 pack.

additionally, if anything is going to make me give up this hobby, it's not the people chasing trucks all over and driving prices through the roof, it's people who continue to refer to willingly overpaying for (already-expensive) beer as "****". it's fucking disgusting and I don't understand what good it is having moderators on a forum if they allow this to happen.

I really don't get the butthurt on this site over paying $6 more for 2 bottles of bcbcs. They handed out desserts, coffee, mugs, and posters for freee! But omg, the price of a bottle was 6$ more than another place. This site is ridiculous sometimes.

Are you employed by AB? I'm just looking at your handle "eff yea AB"......or is that supposed to mean f-you AB?

Anywhere in the city still have Coffee or Vanilla on tap? I doubt it, but thought I would ask. I've seen regular BCBS, 13 BCBS and BW as recently as last night.

Yeah as of this week it's still on. I live around the corner from this place. Great bar food too. Definitely not a craft beer crowd, but the owner is a craft beer guy, so good stuff usually stays on for a while. He also has bottles for sale once everything kicks.

It always makes me chuckle when people cry "price gouging" and whatnot, the term "****" is frankly ridiculous enough, and then say they bought it "anyway." Nobody put a gun to your head. The store, distro, shop, etc charges a price and you choose whether or not you want it.

I kinda get it, but from a long term business plan standpoint I think it's terrible. Last year I tried coffee on tap and thought it was the best beer I ever had, so I bought as many bottles as I could and paid no more than $7.50 per. This year I completely passed because I refused to pay $12. I still bought the others, but this is no way to treat loyal customers in their 2nd biggest distro market.

Agreed. If it were really that bad then the stuff would sit in shelves and collect dust but just the opposite happens. So i guess a lot of people like signing up for "****". Even with all the crappy forced package deals that have been going on in the Long Island markets, you'd be hard pressed to find variants.

Anyone seen 4 packs of the regular Bourbon County at any Whole Foods recently (like today)? Columbus Circle is down to a 2 bottle limit and I'd rather not go all the way over there for just 2 bottles.

EDIT: Doesn't need to be WF... anywhere in upper midtown would be helpful
