I appreciate that! Just don't know how KH could taste better then Kuhnhenn BBBW or Sucaba for that matter as those are both simply amazing.

I hear you and hope you get it. It's an amazing beer and I wish everyone could try it. If you want it bad enough then you may have to trade a bunch of $18 beers for it, even if you don't want to. You only live once. If it was something you wanted even before it was released you could've scored one fairly easily right when it came out, which was my original point.

KH was aged in the barrels that formerly housed Bourbon County Rare (and had pappy van winkle first). So in other words, they cant make it again unless they make Rare again.

Got it the first 467 times you posted the exact same quip.... Because everyone in Ohio is going to the BA Naked Evil release just like everyone in CA went for some Beat. Got it. Thanks again, clever as hell.

I think it's gone for good. They may do more BA Barley Wines, but most likely not aged in PvW 23 barrels.

I wonder what 23 year PVW Guinness would trade for

Unfortunately, at the time, my collection didn't look nearly as appealing as it does now. There was no way I would've been able to leverage myself a trade for a bottle of KH at release as the hype train didn't take long to get rolling.

The funny thing is that I even have a CBS, some cantillons, and other things that could probably get the job done with relative ease. The problem is that they're all single bottles and the only ones I could obtain. They're all waiting for me to open them and taste them for the first time, save for CBS which I got to try on draft last year.

i'm willing to bet that 90+% of beer advocates could not tell the difference between rare / king henry vs. bcbs aged for 2 years in elijah craig 18 barrels (let's call this wale) and a barleywine aged in spent wale barrels (let's call this king james).

to say it won't be made again is strictly academic as far as what the majority of drinkers would be able to tell apart. look at the thread about pvw bcbs 2007: people really can't tell the origins of the barrels in barrel-aged beers.

    iso: wale and king james

I'd be lying if I said I never considered it. It almost makes me regret for not simply pulling the trigger on one when they were up for like $35 around release time, but I firmly disagree with the sale of beers, especially beers of this nature, over Ebay for profit.

I'd wager there are less unopened Beat B5's at this point than KH. FT: 1 Beat B5 ISO: 2 KH!

I dont disagree with you at all. KH was just the next one in line to hop aboard the hype train. There will be many that follow. As a matter of fact, its been a little while - so we are due for the next big thing.

You're OK with trading for profit though? Beer/Cash are both used as currency when aquiring KH.

"omg! I heard that the 10/12/2017 vintage of BCBS was aged in King Henry barrels!"

i know you're [at least partially] joking, but i'd believe it. some beers get caught up in the "omg think what i can get for this / better cellar it so trade value increases" momentum. it's a positive feedback loop. the only way to arrest it is to deflate trade value by flooding the market before the rarity narrative takes hold.

it's a shame because king henry is a great beer that has nowhere to go but down. lots of bottles being wasted.
