Beers are made annually in different barrels and considered the same beers. Black Tuesday, Chocolate Rain, BCBS, whatever. A version of King Henry will be made again, but possibly called something else. InBev bought Goose Island to grow their slice of the craft beer pie, not to minimize opportunity by making a beer that everyone loves one time and then retiring the beer. BCBS production is going up, right?

Did I ever say that I thought it was the case? No, bc I haven't had KH.

Is it true that many people have said it? Yes, I've seen it said several times.

So I don't really get where the lolwut comes from. It was a pretty straightforward statement I thought.

i didn't mean to imply you said it or believed it. i just find the statement incredulous.

Yes, I'm okay with trading. I'm not okay with the blatant profiteering that is selling rare beers on ebay. I'm also not okay with people asking for ridiculous amounts of beer in return for something like a single bottle of KH (completely subjective I know, but I don't think I'm alone in this observation). For that reason, I don't plan on unloading a large amount of what I have in order to obtain one which is probably what I would need to do.

Thanks bro, but why? Aren't they both retired?

Typically a beer is active for at least one year before it's retired.

Just wait until it's retired. Then it'll be REALLY rare!

You may find saying Sucaba is almost as good as KH to be incredulous, but simply saying that many people have said it is a factual statement (which anyone who has browsed the forums recently or when Sucaba/Abacus was released would know). I don't even understand how incredulous could be the right word when saying the 3rd ranked English barleywine is considered by many to be almost as good as the 1st. If it's that good, maybe I'll have to trade for it.

I don't recall Rare being around for a year before it was retired. . .maybe its the exception for some reason?

Where did you get that info from anyways? Not saying its not true, but where did it come from, and said exception to said, apparently unwritten rule?

Rare was indeed around for a year before its retirement, but maybe only a day or two over.

I honestly can't remember who posted it, but I started a thread (on the old site, obviously) when Rare got retired and asked about why/what qualifications caused a beer to be retired. I know someone answered with the (seemingly arbitrary) "one year". Wish I had more solid info for ya.

I've heard the 1 year before it hits retired status before, too.
