Haven't heard much noise on the topic yet so I figured I'd get a thread going. I think the M10 event was held mid Nov, does anyone know what won?

I'll be attending the M11 blending event next Sunday but haven't figured out what I'd like to attempt. Anyone have anything they'd like us to test? I don't think they have announced the components available yet but I'd assume it will be the base sours (OT, SitR, Sour Blond etc) and probably some BA items for balance like Sucre and White Oak Sap. From there we are free to get freaky with home brought additives.

I think a cucumber sour might be interesting, but I tend to favor fruited variants so I'll hit up my produce shop and check out whatever is in season (pears?).

Love the cucumber idea personally. It would add a refreshing twist to it.

For the M10 event, they didn't tell us what beers we could use until we got there that day. We got to blend Black Tuesday, BBA Sucre, 7 Swans, Mash, Local red, and Mischief.

The winner was I believe the blend of 40% Mash and 60% 7 swans with Mexican chocolate, cinnamon, ancho chili. I tasted it, it was very good.

We blended BT, 7 Swans, Sucre, and Mischief with coconut and blackberries. We came in 3rd.

Did you bring the blackberries or were they provided.

I'm also curious if the blending session next Sunday will require a strong ale/ stout to be part of the blend of it can be pure sours.

No adjuncts are provided. Just the beers and some tools (French Presses, scales, etc.).

Usually the rules are simply that you need at least two different beers in your blend. Otherwise, it's fair game to do whatever beers in whatever proportions (among the 6-8 that they have on-hand for the event).

The most disgusting beer I can imagine would involve cucumbers, cilantro, and watermelon. But I bet there are others that would find that concoction satisfying.

We were assigned to groups of 5 people. One person in our group brought coconut and guavas.

There was a table of food for us to snack on through out the event. One of the plates had blackberries on it as a garnish. We used a few as a test and liked it, but there wasn't enough to make the sample submission. I live a few blocks from the event so I went home and got the flat of blackberries that I had bought the day before.

Sounds decent to me. Switch the cilantro to mint, blend with my favorite sour, and you've got yourself:

Glad someone started a thread about this. Time to go shopping at a spice store.
The fruits im thinking about bringing are kiwi, banana, pineapple, strawberry...maybe like a fruit salad sour would be pretty interesting.

If you put banana in, it'll probably overpower most of the other fruit. I mean, if the rules of Jamba Juice translate into the beer world that's what I would assume.

So stoked to blend with black Tuesday. Now I need to put my thinking cap on, cuz shit just got real!
Blue BBl's is one of my favorite beers of this year. I would love something like that again.

Whenever me and my buddies "blend" at the Bruery, whenever we blend stuff with Oude Tart it kind of flattens it out. I would do something with BT and ToD. If not that, The BBA Anniversary, SitR, and BT. So jealous of this event.

Great bases. I'd lean towards BT, ToD and a buttload of raspberries.

Might have to press some toasted coconut with BT and a splash of ToD for research sake:stuck_out_tongue:
Also stoked that I have a DD for tomorrow!
