It is really a top notch beer. It was somewhat of a palate cleanser half way through a bunch of BA Barleywines and it was refreshing but also had a good complexity and depth of flavor and was big enough to not just taste like water when compared to KH, Abacus, Bligh's etc...definitely worth seeking out. Plus it is the top pale lager on BA, hard to go wrong with that.

Most hyped and worthy of the hype = Prima Pils

Most hyped but overrated...My Antonia perhaps? I just don't like the flavor profile of imperial pilsners too much.

Correction...overhyped = PBR. Why so many will drink this off-tasting adjunct and say its good and then slam most all other BMC's still boggles my mind.

A good beer, no. Off-tasting, to you maybe. Drinkable, cheap and a bit better than BMC, I think so. Its not really a hyped beer either. People aren't really rushing on here to review it and it gets mostly average ratings.

Schlenkerla Maerzen. Or maybe that's just me....

EDIT: oops. Sorry. Should have said oak barrel-aged, double-decocted beechwood-smoked lager.

I don't think the OP was asking for the most overhyped Lager.

The Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel really doesn't have any hype from the brewery, but because it doesn't make it over here, it's made by monks, and it's pretty damned amazing...I'll go with it. It has also had a pretty long-standing place in the top 100.
It's one of those situations where I'd say the BA community (at least German beer/lager fans) have rallied behind the right beer.
