I didn't have the chance to stop by this place yet, since it just opened its doors. Thought it would be worth mentioning since this neighborhood is practically a black hole in the craft beer universe.

Seems like its Beaverton is getting its due with this and the new Cascade Pub opening up. Good for them - I still would never live in Beaverton.

Thanks for the tip, satchit. That's pretty close to me.

Sounds like neither one of you has any idea what a REAL craft beer black hole is.

Haha, okok. I used to live in Beaverton and don't remember having many options at the time. Nowadays I live in Lake Oswego/West Linn area, and there are actually a few good places in my neighborhood. Who knew!

What places do you frequent in the LO/WL area? I'm curious, as in my experience, the hiway 43 corridor continues to be something of a dead zone when it comes to craft beer options. The Keg N Cask is the only decent new spot I can think of around there; otherwise, it's just the usual suspects of MofC and Highland Stillhouse (though I guess you can count the WL McM outpost as well) around there, as far as I know. Otherwise, I end up having to head over to Sellwood, MacAdams or Oregon City for a more interesting, and diverse seletion. If I'm going to drive that far, then I typically just spend the extra 10 or 15 minutes to drive up to SE Portland.

And just for the record Vurt... I lived in Morgantown, West Virginia for 6 months, so I know all about craft beer black holes! :-)

    Hi John,
Besides Cask n Keg, there is a new brewery/pub called Flyboy in Lake Grove/Lake Oswego area (http://flyboybeer.com), as well as Stickmen in the heart of LO (http://www.stickmenbeer.com). Stickmen's BA barleywine is delicious, as well as a BA porter called "Blend #1" that I really liked as well.

Ahhh, I forgot about Stickman's brewpub. I keep on meaning to stop in one of these days, but every time I try their beer (and have been unimpressed so far), it occurs to me that maybe there's no rush after all. Still, I really do need to stop in one of these days soon.

Flyboy brewing and pub I was unfamiliar with. However, from where I live in West Linn, that's a good 20 minute drive (unfortunatley). I live right across from the Mary Young park, and I rarely have any reason to head up that way (sometimes I'll go to the LO Trander Joe's, but that's really the only time I get up that way). Too bad, as the place sounds great, based on what I see on their website.

    Thanks for the tip!

    Sorry I was misleading.

Cascade is opening up a new blending house in Beaverton where they will move most of their production. But it wont be open to the public. :flushed:

Woah so close! I am by Robinwood, across Burgerville. Pretty close. We should grab a beer one of these days

I live in the Linnwood Condo association area, at least when I'm not working down in Eugene.

I have a Portland life and a Eugene life. :-)

But yeah, I'd definitely be up for getting together for a beer at some point. Maybe we should throw a little business to the owner of Cask N Keg, seeing as they're so close by. Have only been one time, but the owner seemed nice enough, and the tap selection was decent.

The GF and I will be down for roughly a week after X-mas, so if you're around, mabye we can meet up for a beer then. I'll shoot you a beermail after X-mas. Cheers!

I've got a cousin who lives in Lake Oswego not very far from Stickmen. They're not that bad.

I work in Lake Oswego and have never been to Stickman or Flyboy. Looks like I need to check them out at least.

    Sounds good

Flyboy is slowly tapping their own beers, but they usually have a nice selection. They are right next to a couple of food places, so you can always bring your food, and they will even bake a papa murphy's you can get next door.

First time I went to Stickmen when they first open I didn't like it at all. A couple of weeks ago I gave another try and was surprised they had their own barrel-aged beers. Their coffee porter, Buona Mattina, is also nice. They are definitely putting some good effort.

Dang, just noticed that Flyboy (see link above) is announcing on his "on tap" page:
"On tap soon Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island. 12oz glass only ."

    Can't miss this one.

I was going to check out Brannon's last night, but plans changed. I am not expecting anything great, but am hoping for something good.

Beers are kinda meh. They didn't have the ESB, brown porter, or saison. Food was okay but overpriced, even on happy hour. Fire alarm went off while we were there which was annoying. They've got some things to figure out.

In case anyone was wondering how Brannon's was doing, they're closed until further notice as of last week. I only went there a few more times after that last post and while it improved a bit, it never quite reached the level they seemed to be shooting for. Look's like Beaverton is back down to just one brewery.
