From a brewing perspective, carbonation theoretically should happen within 6-8 weeks of bottling. I've never heard of a beer sitting in bottles for months and months in order to become carbonated. There is a finite amount of sugars for the yeast to break down into carbon dioxide. Once that's gone, no more carbonation. It's a relatively simple measurement that doesn't even require a test batch. Get the right amount of sugar into a beer that contains the right amount of yeast and it will carbonate.

This is why breweries who want to make a splash regionally or nationally really need a quality control, marketing, and PR department- ideally, not one person to do all three (and especially not if that person is also the brewer). I agree with @JDonahue81 - they should pick up bottle returns at tap takeovers in Madison, Milwaukee, wherever, and meet the folks who bought these bottles. That's a great idea and I hope they figure out how to make it happen.

Shot them a message about possibly returning bottles in MKE. I'll let you know if I hear back.

All my interactions with Katina have been positive including doing returns we'll see how they handle this on a large scale but at least one on one I've been happy.

I have no reason to think they won't be great in handling this. They are as much about the beer as we do.

Yikes, I'd be curious to hear how that's all going since their servers are basically students who don't know any better.

BBNT and BBNT+P are carbonated fine now. They stopped selling the BBNT+BB at the brewery since it still hasn't carbonated yet and could take a while or might not at all.

I had Pablano last week (maybe 10 days ago) and it was as flat as the desert. One week made a difference?

Guess not. I didn't hear anything bad from people who opened the pablano. I had a BBNT and it was fine though.

Poblano was bad carbonation or not to me. I'm hoping for better in the other two.

The highlight beer of this event was most definitely Door Kriek. Unfortunately ALL the BA Night Trains were flops :slight_frown: these beers aren't gonna carb up, and I found it odd that they posted a couple small, easy to miss, signs saying they would do so in a couple weeks. I always enjoy stopping at O'so. The owner, sons, and employees, are all a great group of people, but this latest release just left a bad taste in my mouth.... Literally.

"Special bottle release that was scheduled for Dec 20th has been cancelled and rescheduled for Jan. 23rd. We want to make sure the bottles are fully carbonated this time before they are released. Please spread the word!"

Let's just hope it actually does something this time. Coconut BANT kicked ass at the party, so I'd love to be able to enjoy it in bottles.

I'll let someone else dive into these bottles first. Not gonna buy them myself

I know I'll be in the minority here, but I split a Blackberry BANT last weekend with a fellow BA and we both thought it was outstanding. It wasn't overflowing with carbonation, but certainly had enough carb, particularly for a BB beer. It wasn't flat. I kept the bottle upstairs (versus in my basement "cellar") from when I bought it until the night before we drank it. I really thought the blackberry flavor was great and blended well with the porter base. I even went out earlier this week and bought another bottle.

Had a regular BA Night Train last night. Not carbed and infected as well. Smelled godawful. These are all worthless now.

This matches our experience, though I'd categorize it as "near flat". (To be fair, that was a month ago, so carbonation may have been better on it with more time.)

Cracked the Imperial BB Night Train. If you like tart and flat, drink it now! In a blind taste I may have guessed this was the blackberry variant...

No idea how they managed to infect it again (I actually suspect this was what caused the carb problems), but the fact that we now know it is legitimately infected makes me even more wary of BA Convenient Distraction and BA Coconut Night Train.

They need to really crack down on QC and possibly get Levi and FFG in a separate building.
