I would have to agree with StLeasy and say that it was never retired. I own a tap room an hour away from San Diego and I have had it on tap all of 2013 and 14. The note in that page is probably referring to the fact they changed the recipe.

Indeed. Soul Style is killer. A local place has had it on tap recently and I think it's now my favorite GF beer.

Hop Head Red was never discontinued.

Awesome. If I can get Soul Style locally within a couple $ of that it will become a go to. Have only had (and seen) it on draft so far.

Out of curiousity how much do the same places charge for four packs of WC IPA, Hop Head Red, etc?

    $7.99 for 4 packs & $8.99 for 6 packs from Green Flash.

I had a hard time getting into Green Flash as well. I tried them many times. While I liked Road Warrior, I wasn't a huge fan of the others...until I tried Green Bullet. That beer really got me to turn the corner in them. Now I taste a little bit of it in all their other beers, and appreciate them more.

Cool word. My mistake (See how easy it is?). You did not say you were glad, you said "brought back Hop Head Red".

You never answered my question- Someone who correctly informs about a beer's availability is a nerd, as you said. What is the term for someone who misinforms about a beer's availability? :stuck_out_tongue: Cheers!

A few things you all need to know. They do mark a best by on the label at the bottom and Green flash bumped up the ABV on Hop Head and West Coast IPA almost a whole percent and kept the price the same. Great move in my opinion!

Had west coast a number of yeaRs ago high end good but not blown away, then price increase in Philly market made it prohibitive buy with my beer dollars. 5 years later discovery pack intrigues and I buy. Wonderful especially retool of west coast and double stout. $48 and change for the case is A-ok, will consider a case of West coast singular in future. Double red #3 favorite in case, but all great- enjoyed these more than Stone variety I have purchased.

Yes, there is a place for the Best By date at the bottom of the label but more often than not, it's blank (in my experience anyway) and even when stamped I don't know when it was bottled.

I disagee on the change in ABV/recipe, I much prefered WCIPA prior to the changes and if anything I would have rather seen the ABV go the other way. If I want a GF DIPA I would go for Imperial or one of the seasonals (RoadWarrior, Green Bullet, Palate Wrecker), I guess they are starting to bottle a single IPA for 6ers but it will probably be priced above what I would want to pay for a single IPA.

I have a soft spot in my heart (or liver, I guess) for this beer. This was the beer that got me into GF in the first place some 10 years ago and was a big introduction to this New Yorker to Californian/hoppy ales. I haven't had this in years.

I'm old. I round up.. I knew it was the mid 00s because I was still going to bars rather frequently and they had it at a local that was one of the first "craft" bars on LI (Croxley's for those local to me). They always had the Hop Head Red on tap there.

I'm glad it's available again, and hope that before too long I'll be gawking at some packy cooler and see a new batch of Rayon Vert.

I wish EVERY brewery dated their :grimacing::confused::angry::sunglasses::rolling_eyes::astonished::slight_frown: bottles!

Good beer but not worth the price in my locale. Too many other good beers that don't cost as much.
