Do - make sure to try every variant at least twice, to ensure that you've given them all a fair shot. Anything less than 8oz and you're cheating yourself, the beer, the brewers, and Jesus.
Do Not - waste time with water. This is a day to be focused on ingesting Victory at Sea. Water is not Victory at Sea, ergo you should definitely not be drinking it.
Do - mislead people when they ask what your favorite is. They will want to try it, depriving you of a potential third, fourth, and fifth taster of your favorite. Fuck them and their unrefined palates.
Do not - fill your stomach with food before the event. That's perfectly good space for Victory at Sea, and much like water, food is not Victory at Sea. Focus is critical here.
Do - cleanse your palate between tasters. I recommend using Victory at Sea, as it will make sure to wash out the taste of variants without breaking focus.
Do not - contemplate trying any beers that are not Victory at Sea. You think a Sculpin sounds good? That's nice, come back on Sculpin Day, this is Victory at Sea day and as we've already covered, you need to stay focused.
Do - ensure you reach the bathroom when it's time to expel bodily fluids. I know, you're thinking this is a waste of time when there's a perfectly good planter box, but you don't want the aroma of stomach acid distracting you from your next taster. You're a Beer Advocate and you need to be focused on the beer.
Do not - leave until you've made sure that everyone in the tasting room knows what a fantastic Beer Advocate you are. I'd recommend loading your phone up with pictures of your cellar beforehand so you have empirical evidence of your superiority.
Do - ignore your significant other's pleadings to leave the event in favor of getting your stomach pumped at the hospital. You're a Beer Advocate, not a drunk. You're respecting beer.

Will be at the Miramar location.

I DO have a question though, what if your significant other is the one driving you to get there super early so that you can secure goblets, should I still ignore? So confused!

The lineup looks similar to the V@S event at Hamilton's during SDBW, but still might walk down to the Little Italy location to get more of that PB version and try the cereal.

Is this more expensive than it was last year? Or did they offer six tasters for $25 last year? I remember last year being a really, really good value. This year is kind of pushing it. I love that beer and the variants, so I'm more than happy spending money on it, I just remember last year's event being better-priced. I could also be totally wrong.

Let's do the Speedway Grand Prix comparison: $8 for four 2oz tasters. One buck an ounce.

$25 for five 4oz tasters plus a goblet - take away the goblet and we are near the same price per ounce.

Mmmmm-hmmmm. At least you can pick and choose here, though that means somethings will run out early.

The plus is that you can pick and choose, the minus is that it's substantially more expensive to try every variant. I think it would be cool to offer 2oz pours as well so you can try everything without getting shitfaced (or without wasting a lot of beer), but managing both 2oz and 4oz pours would be a pain. I think both Alesmith and BP have good formulas going at this point, each just happens to have its pro and con.

Do - ignore her if she says anything about leaving, taking a break, or doing anything other than pouring Victory at Sea down your throat.
Do not - let her use her own glass or tasters. You can double your efficiency with two glasses and any Victory at Sea that she drinks is reducing your potential intake. That's unforgivable.
Do - let her sit quietly and play games on her cellphone, provided the sounds don't distract from your focus on Victory at Sea.
Do not - let her inane ramblings about how it's 11 PM and the staff is calling the police because you won't leave break your focus. They're merely testing your dedication, you must not waver!

(10:15:17 AM) Me: and give me your taster tickets
(10:15:17 AM) Her: I don't have games on mycell phone
(10:15:22 AM) Her: only Cicerone Flash Cards

It makes me wonder who the beer nerd between us really is.

I don't think I made it out last year, but the year previous, it was pay as you go, like $2 per 4 oz pour. And the first like 100 folks got the goblet as well. This year, yeah, the price is way up, but that the craft beer economics we are all faced with these days.....EVERYTHING beer related is going up in price. Kinda sucks, but just be happy you got in early for the cheaper days.

I entirely agree. I guess my point was that when you break it down, the price per ounce is about the same.

I'll be at Little Italy again. Got there around 11 last year and there was plenty of parking. Bet there will be less people if the Chargers lose the day before.

IF the Chargers lose? Anyway, this does sound similar to the Hamilton's event, but I might hit up the Little Italy location for the glass. I guess I could have some beer there too.

Hahaha true. Even a depressed 49'ers team should be able to win Saturday.
