The best (and only) thing this has going for it is the label. Not a fan of this one. Pretty meh.

My fantasy team is in the finals of the Toilet Bowl today. The loser is officially the most terrible team in the league....I figured why not have an Ivan the Terrible to help me through it. Cheers!

Cross posted at New Beer Sunday-
Happy New Berliner Weiss Sunday! And a busy one it is for me. Damn, but it's chilly out, too, so any work in the garage will have to wait, but there's a basement to be cleaned and that's where I'm headed after this. Next week we're having a Hanukkah Party, so it's got to be done, and I never seem to be able to deal with that sort of thing after work.

Meanwhile, it's lunch break time. Some left over mu shoo beef will do nicely, and what's that accompanying it? It's Bayerischer Banhof Berliner Style Weiss-

After a decanted pour, the aroma is dominated by a white wine character (more Vouvray than Chardonnay) and crackers, while in the background there are green apple, lemon peel and white peppercorns. The palate is more dry than tart, although there is a pleasing dollop of sourness as well. The bready/crackery flavors take over for a while, but then that white wine and even a bit if hay come on for the finish.

Midway through the glass I begin eating, and I gotta say, this delicate little beer stands up to all of that crazy sweet/sour/earthy food incredibly well. If anything, the tartness becomes a bit bolder, while the flavors don't back down an inch. I can see why this style of beer has been referred to as the Champagne of the North, because that's exactly how it's coming across now. Absolutely fantastic! Points docked for being slight on the sourness, but overall a very enjoyable A- (4.125)

"What would I do that was different,
unless it was Champagne with you."

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

This ought to make the second half of the game pretty fun, regardless of the outcome (let's get some passing offense going here, guys)....

Now I'm trying the new Smuttynose Finestkind IPA recipe. Still as grapefruity as I remember. Awesome stuff!

Next (and probably last) brew of the Pats game.

Rising Tide's Polaris: Jim Beam Barrel Aged Wheat Stout (what the hell is a wheat stout????). Insanely huge vanilla and ripe fruit. This is really impressive.
