The only one I can say I've tried is Summit's Horizon Red - LOOOOOVE that beer!! Very interested in trying more of that style.

Love Erie Monster...but prefer their Chillwave...actually think Chillwave, Maharaja and Hopslam hold a 3 way tie for my all time favorite beer

Midwest IPAs tend to be more malty than West Coast versions,,,

Harpoon Leviathan seems like it may work for you.

I was thinking the same thing. Bigfoot and Brown Shugga both blur the line for me between American Barley Wines and Double/Imperial IPA's.

The only time I ever had 90 minute, it was so sweet and caramel-y that thought they had poured me the wrong beer. And this isn't coming from a hophead.

I would disagree with Two Hearted. It's quite pale.

Also straying from beers labeled "Imperial IPA" - I would recommend Troegs Nugget Nectar for the OP. More malt, but very nice hop flavor. Labeled as "Imperial Amber".

DFH Burton Baton is one of their beers that the label states "Ages with the best of 'em".

but I've had up to 3.5 years old, and I don't think it changes much. I'd just drink fresh.

DFH 90 is one of my favorites.

Also, I recently had Clown Shoes Reindeer Games and it had both a hearty malt backbone and fairly potent hop finish.

I wouldn't call any beer listed as malt forward. Maybe relatively malty, sweet, or rich, though. Bigfoot and Hog Heaven are what I think of as very balanced barleywines. Tons of malt, and tons of hops.

    Semantics aside-
Lagunitas. Their IPA, Lil Sumpin Sumpin, Hop Stoopid, Maximus, and Brown Shugga (all currently available, we'd be here all day it I listed the others:stuck_out_tongue:) IMO are all extremely easy drinking, big textured and sweet for the style.

    Cheers!

This is a job for Ballantine! Although you should probably know upfront that the bitterness is pretty ratcheted up there as well. But it's an IPA with such a great, satiny malt character to it.
