So I'm actually expected to explain basic math to you? Really? The site does it for you! This isn't a magical formula bro, it's average you should have had a grasp on this by 6th grade but I can't say I'm stunned based on your grasp of punctuation and capitilization. How is this that difficult? The average rating of bourbon barrel aged imperial stouts is high there for to be considered exceptional within the style, that beers grade needs to be VERY high to set itself apart.

Thanks for being a condescending knob though.

God, I love the internet. E-thugs everywhere!

    here's what you said:

you're referring to data you clearly didn't gather, didn't examine, don't have, and can't share. you made your statement in ignorance and i am calling you on it. it is no surprise you are angry.

It's a great boozy beer. Paid between 13.99 and 19.99(I know I got screwed at sheister liquor store hoping will hook me up with more rare brews) in Chicago.

This implies (to me) that there is one number that is the average rating for all barrel aged imperial stouts. Can you link to that number? I know the site calculates the average rating for every individual beer, but I've never seen an average rating over an entire style.

Also "bourbon barrel imperial stout" isn't a style, so it's not possible to even calculate an average without going through all 1400+ beers individually and figuring out which are BBA.

So it's literally impossible for the site to provide an average, let alone a curve, for the ratings.

So done with this thread, you guys seem to care waaaay more than I do.

Obviously, bourbon barrel aged imperial stouts aren't a style but there aren't that many in the system (under 300). If you do a quick check on average score for those beers you'll find that the "average" is pretty damn high. Did I save my findings or collect data? No. Did I ever imply that I did? No. My entire point was that while a 99 rating is certainly top notch for say an Amber Ale, it isn't terribly impressive for a barrel aged Imperial Stout.

Sorry to piss off all the hardos of BA.

I once drafted a Petition with no Table of Authorities or case authority. When it was denied I filed a writ of appeal that read:

"Petitioner, COMES NOW, is Petitioner really to be bothered with stating authority for the claims alleged? The Trial judge has been around long enough to know how to use the law. If he opened up the law books, they will solve the case for him. Petitioner respectfully avers that this is not 6th grade litigation, liability is clearly imputed if respondent would take the time to check it out.

    Respectfully Submitted,"
Lost quite a few BA imperial stouts from my cellar in the ensuing malpractice case.

If there's anything I've learned on this site, it's that people absolutely HATE having their own words thrown back at them.

my quick check reveals the average is low!

here's where we laugh and clap each other buddy-like on the back as we realize that anecdotal spot-checking of a mass data set can produce any result we want, and that's why confidence increases with sample size, and that's why the entire field of statistics was invented, to differentiate between outliers and true signal, but when you look at something like the probability density function (or grading curve as you called it) of the complete sample size, and you allude that you have this complete data set such that you've even calculated the average of it, you have a god-damn great resource with which to make your argument, and such as.

i'm just going to pray you're not in any position to manipulate or analyze large amounts of data that is tied to a company's bottom line. "NO U DO IT" to a customer will go over real well.

Well he could be from Las Vegas and upside down to the tune of 250 Largefor his McMansion and be addicted to gambling and paying alimony to an ex-Follies dancer who is strung out on methadone and supporting his in-laws and their enfant terrible ungifted child who is pregnant at thirteen. Just sayin'. But, yeah, being from Cincy, I might agree with the original post.

To be fair, not everyone treats the way they do their job the same as the way that they post a casual comment on a beer enthusiast website

seriously, if that is the case then AgentZero has no idea what a BA Imperial Stout tastes like, dude hands out 3.2's like Vics Vaporub masks at a Filipino rave.

true. i'd have accepted it if he said he didn't have the data. it's how defensive and belligerent he got when asked for it that strikes me as a warning sign for any data analyst.

Here, I will try my hand at it:

Last August, during the first release of Citra I tried to trade Citra for Kaggen not knowing what it was. That was wrong.

    BUTIFBOTHTRADERSAREHAPPYTHEN-

    nope. Couldn't do it.
