So, finally got a small bookshelf moved to my basement to move some of my beers, as currently I was keeping them either in my mini fridge, or here...

    [IMG] [IMG]

Got everything moved over, pretty happy with how it turned out![IMG]
Finally room for the larger format bottles beside keeping them in my fridge (which I can only fit 12). Bottom two shelves hold bombers, top shelf unfortunately is a tad short.

Think this is good light protection? On the sides it seems like a trace amount of light might seep through, but not a ton. Trying to see if that giant trash bag will be sufficient, or if I should get a curtain or something to put over it (the lights are on down here a lot of the time as this is where my PC is.... literally my parents basement D: )

I picked some of this up in Chicago. If I would have tried it before I left I would have brought a lot more home with me. So good.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the concern about light more about UV light from the sun than incandescent/florescent light from lightbulbs? As I understand it, the only damage constant lightbulb light will do is to the labels. I'm not saying you should get rid of the cover, it's probably a good idea for other reasons, I'm just saying that I don't think you need to be concerned about the integrity of the beer based on some lightbulbs.

I wasn't sure either tbh, I seem to read conflicting things all the time, but I'd rather be safe than sorry at the very least.

there was some conversation on this topic in the cellaring forum not so long ago, and the wavelength from incandesents is not that bad, but flourescents was terrible, if i recall. if i have time/think about it i'll go digging around and see if i can find the thread and come back and link it here...

that being said, I think your trash bag will do fine, @ninjembro

Special thanks to @PA-Michigander for this VBS. This is one of the BCBBW that hit my porch as a Ninja attack. Thanks Nick.

Nick, are you in town next week? I picked up something to send you, just don't want it sitting on a porch if you ain't there.

Now, another box that wasn't planned for. In return for sending a couple locals and a 2012 BCBS to fill in a verticle for @PassMeAZima tasting, he blasted me with this. Thanks so much. That CS Hopsavant looks especially tasty.

Thanks! I had no idea that florescent light would cause any problems... guess I need to move my beers away from the CFL bulbs I'm using.

    VBS!

It's ok. Picked it up when I visited the brewery back in.... late August? I tried a sip of it from my friends' sampler back then, but didn't remember anything about it until now. It'll work for this Flyers game though.

Yeah not my favorite from them. In general they do a lot of middling beer, but a few things are pretty damn tasty. Cape of Good Hope, Brawler, George Washington Porter, all very nice.

There was something I had when I was there that, afaik, was brewery/draft only, it might have been a BA george washington porter? Can't quite remember, but it was damn tasty whatever it was

Could be, it is one of their highest rated beers; never had it personally.
