I inspected my bottles after hearing of this Thanksgiving weekend. No "mold" issues per say, however I definitely notice the "glass bubbles" (you can see them with the naked eye upon inspection) in the 12oz bottles. Hard to tell if they are "on the inside of the bottle" or "in the middle of the glass" itself. Got my bottles at TW in Naples, FL on Black Friday. Have not inspected the one Vanilla I was able to get.

Come to think of it though, I've never really inspected other bottles that closely. Maybe this is normal. Not gonna sweat it. I've opened one of each BCBCS and BCBBW and noticed no issues.

Yeah, one of mine had a big flat spot similar to your dent (just not as dramatic) - I think they bought really cheap ass bottles this year as it seems there are a few flaws like this - weird, but shouldn't cause a problem for the beer inside!

I wonder where InBev will cut costs next year on GI?

Shit happens. I don't care if labels are stained, glass imperfect, and bottles have mold on them. As long as the liquid inside is good then I'm happy.

Next year, everybody that is bitching should just not buy any BCBS/variants in protest

Rest assured all the glass defects being talked about will not effect the beer inside. The cracks are most likely just tears which are normal. Any true crack would give out from the internal pressure. Flat sides and dented shoulders are normal although should have been caught. These bottles are made at about 425+ per min so can't get all the defects.

I don't think anyone would expect the bottle makers to catch all of the defective bottles, but they should catch at least some of them. And all of them for sure shouldn't be defective. I ended up with a decent amount of BCBS this year and every bottle was flawed in one way or another. If it was PBR I wouldn't care, but tiny cracks and stuff kinda freak me out when Im gonna be stashing it away for a while.

Understood. I have worked at the 2nd largest glass maker in the us for 20 years now and can assure you I have never seen a flawless beer bottle.
It boils down to this, the profit margin on these bottles in next to nothing and inbev will take the cheapest bottles they can. In order to be profitable the glass maker will let some some defects go as long as it's not something that compromise the bottle.

Its strange that Budweiser bottles aren't as bad as BCBS bottles though... You'd think that if InBev was buying cheap bottles for BCBS, they'd buy the same or cheaper bottles for Bud Lite and their other brands. Ive never bought a case of beer, Budweiser or otherwise, where every bottle had flat sides or tiny cracks.

And it just kinda feels like ordering a nice steak and having it brought to your table in a mcdonalds bag.

So Im sure the beer in my dented bottle is just as good as the beer in the non dented bottles it came with. I just thought it was a cool find.

I agree. At about $6ish a bottle you think they would try to make sure it was in a higher quality bottle but the reality is that it is put into a generic bottle that is made and sold to just about any brewer. the bud / bud light bottle are made specifically for them are, at least where i work, held to a higher standard than the generic one that bcbs comes in.

Wow, its hard to believe that InBev is buying anything but the cheapest stuff for Bud/Light. Thanks for the insider info

Definitely check your bottles before you leave the store. I picked up a 4 pack of regular at a shop about 45 minutes from where I live only to find one of the bottles completely empty when I got home.

Went to my cellar and opened a case of 2013, and it had a mold issue. Do not take it lightly. The mold will get under the cap and cause rust. I opened the fuzziest bottle I found and the beer was great, but the age-ability is lost due to cap degradation.

I wiped all the affected bottles down using baking soda solution and then marked each bottle with a system:
    X - mold on bottle
XX - mold on bottle near cap
XXX - mold coming from under cap

I plan to monitor the reoccurrence of mold based on the marks. Lot of beer now needs to be drunk, and I cannot trade these in good conscience. Oh well.

The weird part is that no other beer I own has the issue, including 2012 BCBS.

Bourbon county is a little too sweet for me, one bottle is enough. I'm sending out all my bottles for proper inspection. I need connoisseurs expertise on the sweetness level.
