Correct. I had a buddy in GA who missed out, so I just shipped him a bottle. Actually I guess I lost that one, since I paid for the bottle and the shipping. Feels good though, mane.

I see both sides of the argument here, but ultimately fall on the side of "trade your beer for whatever you want." I'm talking to a guy about trading a Vanilla for a case of Zombie Dust. Some people might say "thats crazy!! You can get so much more for that Vanilla!!" or "you can get ZD without giving up the Vanilla!" but you know what? (1) I LOVE Zombie Dust (this fact is well know by those who know me), and (2) I'm psyched to give someone a chance to try Vanilla that missed out on it.

If I'm doing it wrong, so be it, but I trade my beer for what I want to drink. That was why I offered anyone who wants it a 4-pack of BCBS for one of the new JK beers - I'd rather drink the JK beer than the BCBS, cost and rarity totally aside.

Well said, I agree with this and this is how I feel on the subject. Everyone places a different value on any said beer. Sometimes I think the mentality of you have to "win" a trade drives what a beer trades for.

Can't wait to try this beer. I'm not a huge fan of white wine, but I think this will make a fascinating beer. I wish I still had a bottle of Upright Jeux D'eau to drink side by side (even though that's with muscat grapes). Very cool to see Lewis Wines grapes used in the production of a JK beer! I really hope the experimentation with different grapes continues.

Speaking of Lewis Wines, @jesterkingbeer, what's the price for their Texas Red? Seems to be missing from the sheet.

Ooh! Good idea. I DO still have a bottle of Jeux D'eau, which I liked a lot, and will drink side by side. Thanks for the idea, pal!

simple for me...i dont care for sours, but i have a buddy in chicago that drinks nothing but sours. So works out for both parties pretty easily. Trading on the forums is a different beast tho, i'm way more strict on what i get in return from a stranger than i am with a person i'm friends with.

You ever have sours you don't want, you know where to look locally, my friend.

Sorry about that. The price of Texas Red is $22.50/750ml bottle.

    @jesterkingbeer

Is there a reason the beers produced with wine grapes tend to be smaller batches than other fruited sours? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the finicky / delicate nature of wine grapes compared to the other fruits you use.

I'd take a guess that Texas wine grapes are a hell of a lot harder to obtain than most other fruits. Most of the TX wineries that grow their own grapes tend to be fairly limited on their production, too.

CdT used grapes from California, so it can't just be that

It is releases like this that make me want to seek out a Texas trading partner.
Good luck all on getting bottles.

For this particular beer, they noted in the blog that Lewis Wines contacted them about having extra Blanc du Bois grapes. So this batch size was definitely related to the amount of "extra" grapes they were able to get from the winery. (but that doesnt answer your question re: CdT)

BTW, if anyone tries this on tap and decides that grape/wine sours are not their jam, I'd be happy to trade you for your bottle (I'm leaving town for the holidays and will miss out on this one :slight_frown: )

Great job JK. This one ranks amongst the top for me. Had a great time and I'm glad it didn't rain.

That's right. Texas wine grapes are pretty hard to come by. - Jeff

Maybe this has been covered, but I assume the grapes go in as is (yeast and all) as opposed to being frozen or sterilized. Is that accurate?

As I typed that out, I realized it probably doesn't make much of a difference with the local, mixed fermentation already used.
