So I really like Fatheads Headhunter and while I have not had it side by side with Sculpin they seem pretty similar. Headhunter is $10.99/4 and not sold in WI. I have not had an IPA similar to it until I tried Sculpin this week. I have a feeling that Fatheads "cloned" Sculpin and that is why HH is so popular in OH. I would be happy to purchase HH at $10.49, so by that logic I will be happy to buy Sculpin at $16.49 since it would be a better deal per oz. It is something about the malt/hop/yeast combo that make these two distinct on my palate.

If ANYone else can point me to an IPA that is similar to these two for a lower price, I'm all ears. I'm not sure of any exist, but I have not had every IPA that is in WI.

Hoping it's cheaper here, but I paid 16.49 for a 6 pack in Minneapolis this summer.

Doesn't MN have a higher sales tax than WI? I could be wrong, but hopefully that will help keep the price a tad lower.

That's not off by more than 50 cents from what I've seen it for at Everetts in South Beloit. Also without getting into how invoicing works, that shouldn't be much of a factor in the cost of the beer.

I saw Sculpin for $13.50 in Rockford yesterday.

With Wisconsin prices being lower than most states most of the time I am gonna guess Sculpin will be 12.99-14.49

Ballast uses Julian codes so unless the ink is blotched on the label or bottom of can, you should always know the freshness of what you're purchasing. Wirtz is still fairly new to the beer game but I think we're doing a pretty great job with Deschutes so far and I don't anticipate any issues with out of code or old Ballast Point beers. I'm glad to answer any other questions.

Also, no Sculpin variants at launch and no cans until April-ish.

Sculpin will absolutely not be that cheap. At places like Woodman's we will probably see $14.99. Nowhere in the country has Sculpin for $12.99 unless it's on some insane sale.

15 bucks? At that price I can guarantee my purchases will be infrequent no matter how good it is.

You guys act as though Hopslam doesn't exist. Personal preference but I'd rather drink sculpin at that price.

I probably agree with your second sentence, but I think what it comes down to is that most people feel a little better about paying $15 for a six pack of a world class 10% DIPA rather than $15 for a world class 7% IPA.

Yeah you're probably right. I'm just not at the point where I can drink two 10% beers on a weeknight and feel good the next day, so Sculpin is quite a bit more appealing if I'm considering those two options. Plus Im guessing Hopslam has a broader appeal with casual craft drinkers, at least from what I've seen.

There are a few places that offer Sculpin for $12.99, you just have to know where to look!

Ya but Scream is way better then both Sculpin and Hopslam... Best DIPA in the Midwest other then Abrasive of course which is still the king.

We get a lot of decent IPA offerings here in Wisconsin, but I would absolutely prefer the likes of fresh Alpine Nelson, FSW Union Jack, RR Row 2 Hill 56, Trillium Congress Street, etc. to name a few year-rounds (not counting the likes of Focal Banger, Fuzzy Baby Ducks, Julius, etc which require trading a lot or are infrequently available).

However, seeing as none of these are going to be distributed to Wisconsin, I would be reasonably pleased with fresh Sculpin (it's quite good on draft in SD). Fantasy Factory does a good job of sating my Citra itch for the most part, but a well-constructed IPA (that I can drink regularly without getting bored) to me needs a bit more than "just Citra" and I think Sculpin will help with that.

We certainly aren't lacking for access to good DIPAs though, which is quite nice. If only Pipeworks would start bottling the likes of Ninja vs Unicorn, Galaxy Unicorn, etc. in 4-packs and start distributing to Wisconsin. Abrasive getting distributed here in the future, though, will set the bar to a whole new level.

Calm down there fella. Just taking about beers I have had, I have had some heavy hitters from the region like TG Sosus and King Sue but with Screams flavor imo being just as good and coming in 4 packs it takes the cake for ME.

I think this all will happen by 2016.
