Pretty new to this, Any thoughts/advice/help on the following would be appreciated.

For Edith/Nordic/Florence I've got the following which I'd like to offer 1:1, looking for maybe 2 of each

    BA Narwhal
    Farm to Face*
    Dorothy*
    Tweak
    Rum BA Pumking
    *Multiples

And this is most likely off/uninteresting but 5:1 for Flora. Also would be interested in a Vera Mae which might be more realistic.

    Imperial Biscotti Break
    Decicco Chili Hazelnut Biscotti Break
    Natale Biscotti Break
    BBA Biscotti Break
    Donut Break

    Thanks for the help

Rum BA Pumking, BA Narwhal, and Tweak seem generous on 1:1 since they're all $15+ beers and I believe Edith / Nordic / Florence are all $10. Yeah, people have to drive up to HF to get them ... but I also think they were case+ limits.

The 5:1 might happen - it's way over on $$s and Decicco was fairly limited. The challenge is that all of the others are pretty readily available in the northeast and you're probably going to be dealing with a trader from that area. Something out of distro would probably fare better. That said, no harm in posting an ISO and seeing what happens.

Speaking as someone who has traded a lot of HF stuff to a lot.of people all over the country, I hope what follows is helpful:

Throw $4$ out the window, because more often than not it wont apply, even to the common saisons.

What normally gets my attention is something other than the usual suspects, something i.find interesting, that not everybody is trying to trade. Like porno, I know it when I see it.

I don't like saying a trade will never happen, but your offer for Flora would be a tough sell
Its got nothing to.do.with how many dollars over it is.

People are offering ddg +, veritas + and getting crickets. Rather than increasing the quantity, increase the "intrestingness" of the offer.

Applies to both! Some de garde is cases @ $9 and others are one per @ $18 and 200 bottles. I definitely don't expect as crazy of stuff for the 700ish bottle beers. I definitely send them to my trade partners for stuff like farm to face ... But, then, farm to face is a lot harder to get out here than near hf!

De Garde beers are a lot, and I mean a lot, easier to get than Hill Farm beers.

Thanks for the insights all. Maybe I'll try looking for some out of distro stuff instead, or suck it up and make the drive.

    Also, I'm in Morristown.

Ha, I wish I had AWD. Will be making the trip home for the Holidays Monday as well. Gonna need to wait past snow and mud seasons, so...I've got about a 2 month window in the year lol

they're open on Tuesday this week since they're closed on Christmas & Friday. I hear ya about the roads but I'm not confident in my Camry's ability to make it up those final few roads

if the roads don't change your camry won't have an iussue, we drove up in a prius twice in the past few weeks including yesterday. Florence is gone and I agree $4$ doesnt work. I tried Casey recently and I wouldnt trade 1 Arthur (410) for one Casey as Arthur is just a better beer and yes I drink them side by side.

Do you mean via trade or via purchase?

I guess I don't know which is harder because I'm able to purchase De Garde and trade excess very easily for HF. Maybe I'm just lucky in regards to the people I trade with but I've found that among a good swath of people they swap pretty fairly. Bu for Arthur / Florence / Clara / Edith gets done all the time and I've had no trouble doing a couple of the better bu or bu + a non berliner for Art, Flora, Sue, etc and I don't think either side has felt disappointed.

I'd venture to say The Lily, Archer, Imperial Raspberry Bu, Lee Kriek, Side Project Desay Chardonnay, Black Raz Bu, Imperial Apricot, Belle Ensemble, 3S, most of the keepers bottles are not "a lot", if any, easier to get than some of the harder to get HF. The reason I suspect this, again, is what I've traded some of these bottles ... including Art, Flora, Flora Satsuma, CD 6 - 9, Phenomenology of Sprit, M&C 1-4, BG&E, GoM, Sue, etc. And these were all more or less $4$, sometimes less $s on De Garde side. Just like you can't compare trading for Arthur to trading for Art, you can't compare trading for Cranberry Bu to trading for Imperial Raspberry. (I know you know that - just stating the obvious!)

I acknowlege that there are more hard to trade for bottles from HF, but all this tells me it's closer to marginal than "a lot" harder based on my expierience. Not everyone "gets" the difference between the keeper bottles / 200 bottle count beers and the normal Bu and lump them together. Time may play a part in value too - considering what Lily & Archrer trade for now (a friend just did lily + hose for Fou + BA VSS + feral vinifera) I wonder what Belle Ensemble or Unblended Connak will trade for in a year? Maybe nothing amazing ... but if quality and rarity (200ish bottles) come into play, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd go 1:1 for some rare HF.

    Way off topic - cheers!

Tastes vary of course. You may not do this ... but you have to agree that Arthur for Casey isn't silly. $16, I believe, for Casey and $10 for Arthur and the "out in the middle of nowhere" argument doesn't go so well considering Casey is 2.5 - 3 hours out of Denver.

Casey, Arthur, Bernice are like a holy trinity / toss up of basic farmhouse saisons IMHO. (I'd actually put the latest batches of Das Wunderkind up in that company.) Not sure why they shouldn't all trade close to even.

Do they trade evenly? I got the idea that because Casey charges more people think those beers are worth more in the trade.
I traded for Casey with a CO RTP where we were both sending a box and calling it even. After drinking the beers I was shocked to figure the actual shelf price of those beers.
Yes in New England we love our HF and value it highly because the prices are reasonable and the beers are sublime, so what if we have to risk our lives and our cars on unpaved roads in the middle of snow storms. HF is difficult to get to, ask the people who have had to get their cars towed out of mud and snow or deal with washed out roads being the only way to get there.
but trading is what it is, offer the above and see if anyone bites, I wouldn't.

I look forward to visiting Hill Farmstead someday and seeing the burning automobile wreckage and the memorials to the fallen who that failed in their quest for saisons. ;-)

We have to risk our lives for De Garde as well: roads to Tillamook are closed right now due to flooding and risk of mudslide. What a way to go out. Buried under a mountain of mud, entombed with beer like some modern day drunken pharaoh.
