The large format San Adams bottles aren't priced very well, imo.
I have still never tried Rebel, but Third Voyage is awful.

Move on nothing to see here. Hated the Rebel to the point I emailed Boston Beer and they sent me a check for my purchase. The beer is really nothing like they describe. Not a fan of most DIPA so I won't be buying this

    Enjoy

the problem is I always give them a shot and they continually make shit beers Rebel is garbage but I'm with the guy that said if it has Nelson Hops I don't care what the label says I will try it.

Sam Adams does have some good offerings although Nothing really "earth shattering." I am not an IPA fan but I did try Rebel and found it to be pretty enjoyable. I am thinking maybe I enjoyed it because it is a west coast style. I imagine for a die hard IPA fan Rebel has some holes, but I would try this at least once.

It's amazing how bad Rebel is with the hops that are used. Had it fresh in bottle and on draft. An awful IPA. I have little hope for the DIPA version.

Thanks for the valuable insight, bruh (do people really say that?). It is a mind-numbingly idiotic play on words. A huge company with huge PR should be able to come up with something better... regardless, I will still try this brew and most likely it will be delicious. Hope that you enjoy it too.

Opening the floor for guesses as to what the name of their 'session' Rebel IPA will be called.

got a buddy that works for a CT distributor of Sam. hates all of them, but said that this one is "surprisingly good" still a sam at the end of the day. but hey for a good price and will be readily available almost anywhere. why not!?

If it tastes anything like Rebel I will pass. There are many far better, readily available, reasonably priced beers out there. I will be the first to admit that I am not a huge Sam Adams fan (barrel room series being the exception), and I think Rebel falls into their wheelhouse of dumbing down traditional beer styles to make them more approachable to the average consumer. This is not a bad thing at all, just not where my dollar will go when seeking out flavor I enjoy. I'll try it, but my expectation is low.

Well, they had the label on the left approved by the TTB...

... but BBC employee Mr Monch up there in post #20 says it'll be "Rebel Rider"...

Rebel ipa was ok. I'll give this a try considering it will likely be a lot cheaper than most dipas

Rebel isn't bitter but is a West Coast style IPA? That's...confusing. I've tried Rebel and told myself "hmm.. not bad... for Sam Adams." However, not bad for a brewery does not equate to good, so I'll prob never try it again.

Sorry, @infuturity83 , I gotta agree with the other guys. Rebel was garbage. I promise I don't hate on Sam Adams because they're Sam Adams, and I'm still excited to try this

    Ha!

I like Rebel quite a bit, and Third Voyage is pretty good when fresh, if not a little hot from the alcohol.

    Excited to try this one.

Can i just point out that mr_monch pointed out that SPRING variety packs should be in distributors soon or ALREADY are and this was literally the day WINTER started. Oh I'll try the beer but why the hell is boston beer co. Shoving spring beer on us when winter isnt even 24 hours old?!?!?!?

I feel like this conversation happens every year.

From what I have read, they found that winter seasonal sales completely die at the end of December. So they move up their Spring seasonals to sell those as their seasonal line ups are big sellers for them.

Especially last year with Cold Snap which was a huge hit for them. I'd be shocked if they did away with that one.

I will definitely give it a try, but I have more problems with Jim Koch than the SA beer itself...how can we forget this gem from an interview with Jim circa April 2013? Do i need to point out the obvious hypocrisy here?

I asked Koch what he thought of the Alchemist's Heady Topper and other massive IPAs. In a part of the interview that didn't make the paper, Koch said, "They're big IPAs. There's 100 of them. Are they new or interesting? Not really. I mean they're good, but there's nothing I'm going to learn from tasting that. There's not a huge set of skills to make an 80-IBU beer."
"There's probably 100 really good 80-IBU IPAs, and there's probably 500 or 1,000 that are out there. It's not that they're bad. It's like drinking Bud or Miller or Coors. You know what you're going to get, you're not going to be surprised. If you're surprised it's generally a bad surprise."

I definitely want to try this myself. I don't have a "fight the power" hate for sam adams as much as i just don't care so much for the beer.
The imperial stout was pretty decent and BGN gave rebel rouser a solid review so im in
