Are you sure? They posted on their Instagram that this past weekend was the last chance to get growler fills before the holiday.

In Absentia day was pretty great yesterday. Ran through a flight of all the variants + base. Generally thought that the Rum barrel was the most charismatic of the barrels, even had a second pour of that one! Red wine was also excellent, adding a nice neutral, light tannin oaky vibe to the base. Had trouble separating the American and Malt Whiskey variants, but both were solid. I liked the Rye a little bit better.

All in all, not a bad one in there.

Also got a sneak peak of Beat it Nerd outta the bright tank and its tasting like an amped up Cool Summer Bro w/ a less wheaty malt bill. I'm excited.

So interesting... love different palates. I really didn't like the red wine variant - I found the sharp tannins distracting and in conflict with the richer elements of the base beer. The malt whiskey variant (which you didn't have?) was way over-carbonated, giving it a soda-like mouthfeel that was difficult to get past. The rye and american whiskey variants were far superior, though I preferred that American. That said, I thought both could have used a few more months in the barrel, as the barrel character was less pronounced than I'd prefer.

While they were occasionally swamped (with the line circling back past itself at one point), it never felt absurdly crowded, though the outer room did have a stinky-cheese smell for some reason. Was awesome that Van Brunt was offering free tasters of all of their drinks.

Including Sunday, I still haven't had a stout from Other Half that I'd write home about; it's definitely their IPAs that carry the show for me, with Cool Summer Bro being the only non-IPA that has really impressed me. Still haven't cracked my bottle of barrel-aged V-Love yet, though. Thoughts?

Have had V Love twice now, and the second time it was next to other BA beers done with belgiany/saisony yeasts. Loved it first time as a stand alone, but next to other beers it seemed thin and not flavorful nor barrel forward enough by comparison. Still a delicious beer, and more refreshing than were the others. Have one more I am gonna let sit for a year and see what happens.

Before Sunday, I would have completely agreed. I still think the IPAs are where they really shine, but I thought the Base beer and the whiskey variants were really special.

As for the V-Love, I got one bottle in a trade that was from the second release, which I haven't opened. I got another bottle at BGH when they did the OH tap takeover and opened it right away; it was barely drinkable. Does anyone know which batch BGH got their bottles from? I'm wondering if maybe my bottle was contaminated.

Does anyone know if he Evil Twin collab will be available in the tap room tomorrow?

I'm trying to go to Torst tonight, but this flu has kicked my ass in the last few days so might not make it.

I opened a bottle from the first batch (with the Brett) and it was really good - might be bottle variation/contamination they're dealing with.

They've done 2-3 bottlings thus far of the beer. The first batch is supposedly the most Brett-forward. They definitely did a 2nd run of bottles, but I can't remember if the latest bottles were remnants of that batch or a new batch entirely.

Just got back from OH. Glad I got to taste the In Absentia American, Rye, and Rum versions before they got pulled from the taps. The Indian Ladder is something very interesting. And the Beat it Nerd is a brett lovers dream.
