Like a number of others, I was a little slow on the uptake with this one, so would greatly appreciate a thread where we can post when and where it starts showing up around town!

It's now available at most bottleshops. I bought 2 at 99 bottles yesterday.

The beer guy at Interbay Whole Foods mentioned he was getting a decent number of cases.

Bottleworks apparently received some (but not a lot, from the sounds of it) today. And I believe it should start showing up at the other bottle shops/grocery stores that typically carry Fremont's special releases this week.

Total Wine in Lynnwood has about 5 cases. I reached my ass behind the counter and helped myself. Believe that.

This might be the not-so-dark-horse of the year. I like it better than any kds variation.

Bottleworks got 2 cases. 1/pp today. They're supposedly getting 3 more tomorrow.

I don't know. The Coffee KDS was pretty damn good, although the Coffee Cinnamon BBomb on nitro is incredible.

I think it's practically impossible to 'go wrong' with any of these choices. It ultimately comes down to a matter of personal taste. What seems objectively true is that we are all very fortunate to live within easy reach of a brewery that is producing such extraordinary beer.

Same here. It's really, really dang good. Spice Wars is close, though.

I think the coffee and cinnamon really balances out the boozy barrel notes.

Don't suppose there's a snowball's chance in hell it gets as far as Spokane?

Spice Wars was also my personal favorite KDS variant, and probably my favorite beer, period, after almost a year of "being into craft beer." On any given day, I might prefer the Coffee Edition, or the regular KDS, or B-Bomb, or the absurdly tasty and easy-drinking Coffee Cinnamon B-Bomb--they are all great, in their own ways--but I personally found Spice Wars to be this wonderfully cohesive and harmonious blend (just the opposite of anything war-like, quite frankly) of imperial stout, bourbon barrel, and spices. I also agree, with @distantmantra, that the coffee and cinnamon in the B-Bomb make it an exceptionally harmonious and balanced beer as well. Only the fact that I knew it was an 11% beer when I had it prevented me from guzzling it; it was that smooth and delicious.

I'm still trying to gauge the trade value.
Apparently a BBomb combo went 2:1 for Rare but has yet to score lesser in other deals.
    Trading is so weird.

I think trade value on this will be highly variable. There will be folks that have tried other Fremont beers that recognize the quality and won't care about what they give up, but they will be rare since this seems to be the first year Fremont is getting much more than local recognition. There will be others that recognize the quality but think "it's Fremont - I'm not trading hyped beers for that." This will be more common. Then there will be others that think it can't be all that good since its not a previously known quantity or an anemic bottle count bet from the heartlands of adjunct stout production. These folk that are the opposite of train spotters - only recognizing the caboose - will also be common. They'd rather tick an inferior "whale" to get respect for their blunt edged taste.

The taste value is objective though.

Not going to believe the trade until the other side chimes in. If I had a rare, I would just sell it for 200+ on MBC and then buy a bunch of bbomb

I traded a Mocha Wednesday for KDS Spice Wars & Coffee Edition. If I could, I would happily do that trade again. Happily. And repeatedly.

2 for 1 for rare? I don't quite believe that one. I'm sending out 2 for a Backyard+ and I'm more than happy to get that one done.

I was wondering about the backyard trade. That has been a big want of mine, but may be too rich for my blood
