I just picked up a couple singles of Mars last night, brew date 7/31/14. Seeing as this a little over three months ago, how much might have this degraded? I paid $2.29 per, so if it is a bit past prime, I won't be out much.

I just drank one this morning, I think it is still tasting the same and thoroughly enjoyed it.

For those looking in the Twin Cities, I bought a Venus single at Merwin's on Larpenteur in St. Paul on Thursday. Limit one per customer, but looked like they had at least a few left. Haven't tried it yet.

I didn't like your post because you thought your beer was good. I liked it because you had your beer in the morning.

Saw this in Charlotte. Didn't go for it. Haven't heard anything too positive on Venus. Seemed like we got it late, too. Seems like some are charging way too much for it, too. Didn't check the prices here

The third beer of this Planet series by Bell's hit my local store today. This one is 'Mercury' which the label only defines as a Belgian Style Ale. I'll chill one to drink later so that I can see if it's a White Ale or a Golden Ale (or whatever), but those two styles are what I think of when a generic 'Belgian style' wording is used. It was $11.99 for a 6-pack.

It is up on the Bell's web site as a Single at 4.8%. Those can actually be tasty due to the Belgian Yeast.

Well damn. I'll have to swing by the Eccentric Cafe after exams today and see if they have it on tap.

Wasn't on tap at 2pm when I was there but I hear that bottles are in the General Store (I didn't go in to the GS)

Looking for Mars now....Venus was solid, and the flavors were very complex. Very unique. Still sitting on one for the holidays.

Did you try it? If so, I would be curious if it resembles a wit at all.

I finally did try one yesterday, and it's pretty much a Belgian Single or a Blonde Ale that allows the Belgian yeast characteristics to show thru in the form of clove, banana, etc. I think there are more yeast flavors than what you experience in a typical Wit.

Come on Bell's that's more than half the counties in Michigan. Bought a six pack on Friday and haven't had a chance to try one. I'll probably take a risk and drink it.

Thus far I've been disappointed with the series... I'm a cellist and I don't think that "The Planets" is the greatest piece of music but nonetheless i was excited that a major brewery was making a series based off of classical music. I was dismayed that the quality was so much lower than their usual fare... Venus i found undrinkable. I have yet to try mercury so I hope that it is good but I'm not getting my hopes up. Mars was all right- a little too cloying for the god of war. Step it up Bell's! Or pick a different piece of music- perhaps another programmatic standard such as Pictures at an Exhibition?
