NBS BIF #1 hints

    Hint #2 from me- my target's state is east of the Rocky Mountains.

    (fwiw- I'm still being kind of vague because I still don't have a handle on the normal conventions regarding these things, and don't want to give it away too soon.)

    My target is going to see how we do "shelf beers" in Ohio.

    Here is a bone. He had rated more beers than I have

    But seriously, Them's fightin' words.

    P.S.
    I find the best is a mix if the two, hit me up and I will send some Memphis BBQ sauce. That goes for anyone...

    Mmmm... I'm always up for good BBQ sauce.
    Honestly probably my biggest regret in moving back to this city I love in the beautiful northwest, is that the BBQ scene is... lacking. Especially coming from Saint Louis and Texas as my most recent two living situations (and I understand that Memphis/Carolina/KC/etc are even more in the direction of deliciousness...). I have yet to settle on a personal preference in regards to BBQ (seriously: it's all so good. So good), and am always up for further exploration!!

    Hint #1 - My target lives in a state I've been to more than once but in a city I've never been to or even through.
    Hint #2 - I'm shipping in a westerly direction.
    Hint #3 - My target's first and last name begins with letters in the first half of the alphabet.
    Hint #4 - My target lives east of the Rocky Mountains.
    Hint #4.5 - My target has posted on this thread at least once.
    Hint #5 - The three beers I have locked in to send so far (I'll probably end up sending 6-8) are rated 95, 95, and 97 on BA and are all brewed within 80 miles of my home. Two are actually brewed within 18 miles of my house.
    Hint #5.5 - I've settled on a 4th beer to send. It's rated 93 on BA and I've yet to have it so I'm buying two. The brewery where this beer is made is less than 75 miles from my house. My target has had multiple beers from this brewery based on his profile, this is the only brewery that I plan on sending that my target has had a beer from as far as I can tell.

    Hint #6 - My target will be getting a nice piece of glassware in his shipment, and he should be ok with that.

    Based on the hints given out, I think only 2 could qualify as my sender. (Not a whole lot of people North or East of me in here...) I think it's a lot of fun parsing other people's clues and narrowing down their target. I've got a few guesses.

    I think your earlier hint was very specific. I don't know who your target is, but I have a feeling that (s)he should be able to figure it out.

    Hint #1: I'm shipping West. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    Hint #1.5: I have visited your state once (twice counting the return trip).

    Hint #2: I hate your state's only NFL team, as they're kind of a rival with my favorite team. Damn, that's way more specific than I thought it would be.
    Hint #2.5: I'm not from New England, and "my" team isn't from my hometown of Miami, either. So you can rule out the Pats and Fish as the clue.
    Hint #2.75: You can figure out my team pretty easily if you refer to WBAYDN? #792.

    Hint #3: If you check the latest hauls thread, you can probably see at least two bottles/cans you're getting. :rolling_eyes:

    Yeah I think you may be right. When I first started planning it out as a hint, it didn't seem as specific as it may have ended up... Oh well!! The contents will still be a mystery, or at least until I give way too revealing of hints for them as well...

    I don't think that's a problem. I have a very specific hint planned out. I'm trying to stretch it out and narrow it down over time, but like others here, this is my first BIF rodeo, and I'm playing it by ear. :slight_smile:

    I can meet # 2, 3, 4, 4.5, 6, and 7. Depending how close to NY you are, maybe 5.5. I may be in the hunt here since I have had quite a few Jack's Abby brews.

    This is totally on point, for those that like to follow along with hints and really try to reason out who their sender is, a couple early reveals (or at least early eliminations) are really helpful, and keep you from just throwing your hands up. For your target specifically it might ruin the fun, but on the other hand it gives them a chance to really dial in their Wants to your area.

    This is fun! Lots of the hints of course could be me, or just about anyone else for that matter; that's the nature of the game. (e.g. visited that state; from that state; I have your wants) There's also of course the possibility that my sender has not posted hints (or specific hints).


    Hints that are in the ballpark, but nothing guaranteed:
    RGordon - North and East.
    CaveDave - old state, with more than seven letters.
    BigRedDog - North of Tennessee; never had anything from that corner; CT is one of the original 13 colonies.

    Dave and Dog seem to be the front-runners in my guessing game, although that could easily change with more substantive clues. Also, knowing that we have a number of people in the Northeast, a NY sender shipping East is gold for the pairings.


    Oh So Close:
    BeerTunes (all the geography checks out, but none of the more substantive clues - fun clues for another target, though, and I think I know the state)
    WesMantooth (I have rated more beers, but he's already shown me how Ohio does "shelf" beers - so unless that's an intentionally misleading clue, he's out, too :wink:)

    Everyone who has posted any clue of substance is above or eliminated as my sender for geographic sake.


    Other Pairings/Observations:
    -2BeerDogs and KemoArps both gave super cool, fun clues for their recipient to decipher...but their earlier clues ruled me out, so that's homework for some other lucky BA. :wink:
    -Do we have anyone in the group who lives in Louisiana? Because damned if that doesn't meet all the wickets for someone else's target. :astonished: (I'll leave my specific musings out; I don't want to spoil anything, and even if my guess is wrong, the logic might lead someone in the right direction.)
