I think there's a very simple answer to your question.

And it doesn't matter to me one bit- so enjoy!

Could not agree more. The concept of "free market" is quaint at best. There is market manipulation in every "free market."

I just can't understand why everything but beer is available for sale online. Maybe $24 dollars for a 4pk of founders harvest ale isn't gouging because it isn't essential but it's still exorbitant and it's not my retailers fault but rather it's the distributor jacking the price up.

In my opinion, this is a big problem in the craft beer community. Not just with BCBS. Sometimes prices are just so outlandish that it makes me sick. And if you don't agree, you are either rich, have a very high paying job, or have access to unlimited funds.

No kidding. After tax BCBS was as high as $30&change for a 4pk here. I paid ~$20 for 2013. Talk about a huge increase, I was a little surprised despite expecting the price to rise.

All you can do is not buy the beer, you don't have to buy it. Problem is, everyone has a different quitting point for price and most of us cave or justify the purchase if we like the beer enough

You are definitely right about that and I did want it bad enough to buy it despite the sticker shock. I'm just trying to imagine the outrage if my distributor suddenly decided to increase the price if bud lite and coors lite or for that matter all beer by that much. I highly doubt that everyone would stop buying beer but they would be outraged.

Sierra Nevada decided early on that they would set distribute, but only in the Chico area.
