Bierkraft has been my go-to growler fill place for the past few months, but I noticed that they don't update their beermenus page anymore. Anyone have any idea why they decided to stop doing this? Their counter pressure fill system, prices and updated tap list is what made it such a great spot, pretty disappointed they don't do this anymore (updated tap list). They used to post on their social media pages pretty frequently as well and they're not even doing that anymore. Is there something I'm not aware of?

Yeah I noticed the same thing. I'm only a couple blocks away but still liked the ease of looking at beermenus.com

I'm one stop away on the subway, so going there with two growlers with me and not knowing what's on isn't really something I want to do. I haven't been back since they stopped updating.

I would call or write them with the complaint. They'll either tell you why they aren't and won't be doing so in the future (and then you can decide if you want to return), or they'll get a new perspective that they may not have realized (that they are potentially losing you and other customers by not updating).

New counter staff, expanded food menu, TV above the tables, new Instagram, no updates on social media in weeks. Something's going on there.

I wrote them on FB last week to ask why no updates - no response.

Care to elaborate? Or did you just pop in to add nothing to the discussion?

I think it's a quality idea. I like going back to the way it was

Wait what? They expanded the food menu? What'd they add?

I went to Bierkraft on Saturday for a growler fill (of Other Half's Beat It Nerd, since they weren't doing growler fills at the tap room), and their counter folks have always been pretty snobby/snotty but one guy took it to a new level...

A guy in line had a bottle of Cantillon Classic and said it was the last one on the shelf. When I was checking out, I asked if that had been it or if they had any more. The register guy said he didn't think so, but another guy behind the counter lifted up a box stamped Cantillon on the side and like proudly raised it up... and then very slowly turned it upside down and shook it and then showed showed me the empty box with this shit-eating smug look on his face.

I don't know anywhere else that has such contempt for their customers, they think they are the coolest guys in the beer world. I occasionally go in and gawk at how bad their prices are but I think I'm done with even that.

The guys who did a great job running Bierkraft over the past few years no longer work there. I personally can't support the business anymore.

Was Bierkraft sold recently? I haven't been in there in about 6 months.

I know that the tall guy with long hair/beard no longer works there, and I feel like he was responsible for a lot of the Instagram / social media / beermenus stuff

I think you mean Joe. And yeah, that's bad news. The staff there was largely hit or miss, but he was always a great guy - super helpful, no attitude, all round good dude. Can't be a good thing that he's no longer there.

I'm disappointed to hear that Joe left, but Bierkraft has been on a steady decline for a while now. I used to drop in semi regularly for a growler fill, but I won't even do that anymore. The smugness, mediocre selection and flagrant price gouging have all left a bad taste in my mouth. I'd rather walk the extra distance to Covenhoven.

Matt left last year, but Joe seemed to keep things real there. It's a shame if he's gone, too.

Anyone have any recommendations for good places to fill a growler nearby instead of Bierkraft?
All I know of otherwise is Whole Foods.

Yeah I pretty much only use those two as well. I've been to The Ploughman a couple of times:

    https://www.beermenus.com/places/4360-the-ploughman

And there's Prospect Heights Beer Works (but never filled a growler before)

Not that it's a major loss, but didn't realise until I ran past it the other day, that American Beer Distributors in Cobble Hill has closed
