Found a couple of stragglers in my cellar tonight and was thinking of opening one. Has anyone had it lately? If so, how's it tasting?

Every bottle I have opened has been better than the last. There was far too much going on fresh, it has settled down and mellowed out with age. The last couple bottles I have opened have had a subtly smoky Old Ale kinda feel to them, I have enjoyed it.

I opened one up Saturday and I didn't enjoy it. It was all over the place for me boozy, sweet, just a little bitter, and the mouth feel was very viscous. I'm with Stevefinny it was better than fresh IMO.

Had it fresh and wasn't impressed, but then another about 6 months later was more enjoyable. Having a tasting on Saturday, so maybe we'll crack on again and report back.

+1 to the smoky old ale description. i havent opened one in a while, but the last time i noticed a significant improvement. i also think 9k was still getting better last time i had one, which was a few months ago.

I didn't think it was anything special fresh and thought the same thing when I had one in October. I have 1 left so curious what people think of it now too.

I've had it on 5 or 6 separate occasions since it's release and it's definitely mellowed out, but it's still pretty far down my list.

I just had one this past weekend. I think it is getting better, still fairly boozy. I was enjoying it at the beginning but then the booze seemed to take over towards the end of the glass. I agree with others that earlier on there was a lot going on and it has now mellowed out. I think it will be an amazing Old Ale with a little bit more time.

Unfortunately I only have 1 left, and only one 9K left (can anyone comment on how the 9K is holding up?)

Just opened up a 9000 last night. It has really mellowed out and is pretty much brewers licorice at this point without all of the harshness it had when fresh. Drank it by itself but would make an interesting beer/food pairing.

I had a 9000 last night as well and found it very enjoyable, definitely more mellow/drinkable than even the one I had 5-6 months ago

Slightly off topic but I have a couple of Batch 7000s. Never tried it fresh as I got 'em in a trade. What should I expect? Should I let them go another 5 years or get after them?

Had one last night, and I agree with some above in that the flavors work a little better together now and the booze is less present in the aftertaste than before. Still, I feel this will continue to grow into a better beer and plan on drinking one every 6 months or so to see what happens.

I cracked one a couple of months ago and really enjoyed. It was a bit more well-rounded to me than when it was fresh.

I loved the direction the 9000 is going and thoroughly enjoyed the last one I opened. The 10,000 is also getting better, just not there yet.

last 10,000 i had was about 4 months ago and i liked it better than when it was fresh. i'd say 9,000 is what it is at this point as oxidization is taking over. as for 7,000 . . . unless you stored that beer perfectly it is over the hill IMHO. now 6,000 - that is a beer that can go for the long run with proper storage.
