They also drive business to bars that work hard to get limited stuff, so call it a wash.

I suppose, if those customers become repeat customers as a result, and/or drop a lot of $ while they're there on various beers/booze/food/etc. But the guy who comes in and helps kick the keg a bit sooner via a couple of glasses of the beer in question - not so much.

I drank the foam at the bottom of a keg of Everett at Pony Bar HK one time. Best foam ever bro.

I know you acknowledge you're in the minority, but who cares? A regular is no more entitled to a beer on tap and just because he spends more money doesn't change that. This isn't a secret society of liquid hoarders. It's a beer on tap in a city filled with millions of people. Protecting these watering holes is pointless. Especially since one of them is The Gingerman...which is a stones throw from MSG and not hurting for traffic.

Like I/you said - my opinion. But to be clear entitlement is nothing to do with it. HF beer X is nothing to do with it. I just personally don't like beer nerds pointing each other to all the different spots about town, making it less enjoyable for people who would be there anyway (with or without a surprise gem being on tap). And Gingerman wasn't really one of the places that prompted me to post. I rarely go to places like that, and I would prefer that places that don't market themselves that way don't end up with similar crowds due to beer nerds doing promotion on their behalf.

Do you think bars, especially the harder to find ones that are being referenced here, put these beers on tap and expect just the regs to show up?

My assumption is they revel in the prospect of inciting flurries of traffic to help drive business, especially during a time of year where the weather is such that people don't want to normally take a long train ride to Brooklyn in the cold as an example.

If you pulled aside the owner of a certain bar and asked him if he/she would be upset because a forum on the internet was able to drive traffic (regardless of type) to his establishment that helped his bottom line...that person is probably doing a disservice to his overall business.

Then if that's the type of business model they want to follow, they're fairly idiotic for not following the example of GM, RnH et al by posting on every available piece of social media, weeks in advance, regarding what they have on offer.

Anyway - like I said, it's not about a particular beer being more or less available to a regular. If someone posts "I'm going to be in XYZ part of NYC, and I'm looking for a bar that has ABC attributes", then I'll gladly recommend my favourite spots that fit the bill. But personally I'm not a fan of "I'm coming to NYC, where is hill farmstead"

I am a huge fan of theards like this because letting others who truly respect the beer know where they can find it is my definition of beer advocacy.

It is not listed on their beermenus anymore. I was planning on going by when they opened since I am on my way up to that area to run some errands. I figure I'll call them to ask.

    I'll report back.

I accidentally went to the lobby of some hotel in Midtown because they used to have a bar there called Cooper's. After a short walk and a few stops on the subway, I did some damage at the real cooper's, 169 West 8th Ave.

Westbrook 4th, Christmas Bomb, B Nektar Zombie Killer, Spontanelderflower, and of course Anna.
