Main concern when drinking a high ABV 750ml is making sure I have something else ready in the fridge to drink after I finish it. Nothing worse than realizing you don't have more beer...

Maybe they're driving. Maybe they only feel like having one or two beers, a 750 mL of a high abv beer can easily equal 4+. Maybe they don't want over 1000 calories in one sitting from alcohol. Maybe it's a style of beer that becomes cloying after one or two. Maybe they have a low tolerance (and that's ok!) and have no one to split it with.

I can put away a 750 of a high abv beer, no problem. But I can also empathize with those who have one or more justifications for not drinking an entire 750 mL bottle of a high abv beer.

    Apparently maturity is your kyrptonite.

What activity are you doing that burns 1200 calories? I suppose you could run 10 - 12 miles, but after a 12 mile run I'm hungry, and I'm certainly not going to replace all those calories I need with a 750 mL of a russian imperial stout. Burning enough calories to make up for a few beers is one thing, but 1200 requires quite a bit of activity.

One issue I haven't seen mentioned, and I'd be curious to hear some suggestions. I'm often leery about purchasing a 750 of a Belgian beer (such as St. Bernardus Christmas) and splitting it with someone because of the yeast at the bottom. I like to drink these styles without sediment poured in until the end, and if I'm splitting it with another person I find it difficult to not disturb the yeast for the second pour. Do you just pour one glass, then let it settle for awhile? I've tried this a few times, but once that bottle is tipped the yeast is mixed in fairly well.

I drank a Growler of Abyss once, granted it took about 8 hours, but dammit I wasn't letting any of that get away!!

I always drink it all in one sitting...always. Then it's "Lather, Rinse, Repeat".

You're only talking about 2 glasses of beer, so generally I can finish one 750ml bottle by myself. But if I need to save for the next day, I have 2 different types of "corks" I use to to seal up a bottle. I pick the one with the tightest fit, and I've never had a problem with carbonation the following day.

For me, I am a lightweight in that if I have a beer, it is one and at night. I do love a good strong beer though, and high ABVs tend to be on the plate(I call them one and dones). So basically I end up getting a good buzz, then fall asleep. For a 750, I would hope to share it, but if not, I would get pretty blasted.

If it is an IPA, such as Enjoy by, definitely finish on my own. If it is any other style, I split with my wife..

I like to to reseal my bombers/750's, whether saving for later in the night or the next day. I have a bottle capper used for my homebrew bottling, so I just recrimp the caps and keeps in the carbonation. If the 750 has a cork, then I have bottle stoppers (or can sometimes fit the cork back in).

I drink the whole bottle without a thought. I am a drinker and I would think most people on this website are as well. I have heard people putting one of those plastic wine saver cork things in it. But I don't trust that because as soon as Oxygen hits the beer, forget about it.

I'm shocked how many people will consider corking it for tomorrow. IT'S ABOUT 2 TWELVE OZ. BEERS!!! Come on people! If thats too much for a single sitting I'm living in crazy world

snagged a hand-pump wine vacuum sealer at the grocery store for $3.99. Works great if you only plan on saving it for a night or two

I'm talking about daily exercise. I'm not talking about drinking a 1200 calorie beer on a daily basis. My normal routine offsets high calorie beers on the weekend.

share my butt.. LOL... I will consume two bombers on any given day... not uncommon for me to drink 2 bombers of 8-12% ABV over the course of a football day.. (saturday or Sunday) or sometimes both days.. LOL..

You are not normal Steve ... I have no idea how you drink that much and don't pass out or weigh 400 pounds ... just jealous I guess!

I normally share larger higher ABV bottles with friends and do that regularly. However, there are times you just can't get together and you want to drink that specific beer now. And then are times you want to try 2 different beers that are large and high ABV.

What I do is I transfer 1/2 or more into a 330ml empty BFM swing top bottle like this one here:

Sometimes I use the Grolsh 500ml. It takes some practice, but I've become quite good at it and have done it with large growlers. I generally try to finish the transfer within a week, but I have had transferred bottle sit for 4 weeks with full carb remain and flavors are nearly identical.

This method has worked extremely well for me. Some even actually taste better a few days later for whatever reason (I noticed this being the case with BA porter).

Most of the time I open those big bottles with friends, but I have been known to enjoy them by myself.

now if we were talking a BT, that might be tough to kill alone, but I would kill half of that which would be like drinking a 10% bomber to yourself
