Sorry, replied to the wrong post a minute ago.... They had Vanilla Rye and Proprietor's at RPM Steak a few weeks ago. Each over $50. Worth a call if you're willing to spend the $.

Variants will be extremely difficult. You should be able to find regular though - just last week the Jewel on Kedzie and Elston had about 3 cases just sitting behind the photo counter.

If you really want BW I could probably trade you a bottle or two. Let me know if you're interested.

Hillside Liquors (in Hillside) had 2 cases of regular as of about 1 today. $30/4pk.

I picked up a bottle of Prop earlier today from Before You Go. They charged $44.99 for it, tho.

I recently opened my only bottle of Prop, and would've paid the 44.99 if I was in your situation too. Side note: Wild Onion's "Drago" is a really nice BA stout that's similar to BCS. $16/4 pack. Haven't had CW's, but I'd imagine Drago would be comparable.

Interesting, they had it for $30 last week, $35 early this week, and $45 today? I'm impressed how much they've gotten in, although it's a shame they keep raising the price. Not that i blame them.

My wife picked up a 4 pack of regular for me for Christmas at the mom and pop a few blocks away. She picked it up last weekend. They made her buy one of the sisters too, and I don't know how much they charged. I'm sure it was on the high end.

On the one hand, I'm thankful to have a wife who would buy me BCBS for Christmas, but I'm pissed at the store for taking advantage of her. BCBS is one of my favorites, but I wouldn't have agreed to the package deal.

Foolishly went in to Galleria again the other day just to see they had some bombers behind the counter. When I asked how much they were going for, the guy working burst out laughing and went "way too much" before mumbling $70 a piece. He said it was absurd how much they hiked the price up.

These were right in front of a bottle of Pappy that was going for about $2k.

So yeah, Galleria Liquors can help you if you have a lot of money and are absolutely desperate.

Wish there was a way for brewers and distillers to somehow legally reprimand a distributor or reseller that sold their products over a certain percentage over msrp. This legalized price ****** shops get away with is worse then the scalpers reselling sports and concert tickets. I get it from a douchebag outside Wrigley Field, but for a tax paying store it just seems so dirty.

I JUST read this and literally was staying at the Hotel Chicago across the street from RPM last night. Damn. Guess this wasn't meant to be.

For anyone flying out of Midway with deep pockets. 12oz bottles of BCBS for $16 at Harry Carreys and snifters off draft at Millers Pub for $19.35. Gotta love flying.

Is it safe to say the shipments of the variants are finished? I live in Chicago and have been checking in occasionally at several liquor stores over the past few weeks. I guess I wasn't dedicated enough because I have yet to see anything but regular or barley wine. Seems like every shipment I was either a day or two late or was out of town for the holidays. I talked to one cashier who said that the shipments are probably done as he had gotten several and the most recent shipment was only a small quantity of BCBS and barleywine.

All I wanted was a bottle of Proprietor's for Christmas, but ah well. I can take some solace in the fact that I got to try it at FoBAB.

We are actually very lucky to even have BCBS and barleywine sitting around town - outside of Chicago there is basically nothing to be found.

I don't think it's safe to say that, but I have no real idea. Prop has been popping up all over the place in the last week, so it stands to reason that it's still shipping out. However, not having any deep connections with GI or distro, it's impossible to say what the pattern is in how it's being shipped out.

Also, it's also not really about being "dedicated," because timing is of the absolute essence with this stuff; it seems like you have between 10 minutes to an hour to get Prop wherever it hits (unless it's selling for $60 or more, in which case you'll have a little time), so you basically need to watch everything like a hawk, and be ready to drive somewhere on a moment's notice. Have a job? Hopefully you're on lunch break with a car when it hits (or it's close to you), or else you're screwed. It's tough, man, and I feel for people who have struck out.

How are people even finding out within 10 minutes to an hour? Facebook/twitter posts?

Barelywine is still around in Chicago? Anyone want to generously let me know where? I missed it in Indy and it is gone. Would love to snag a four pack or two in Chicago!

    Thanks!!

It might be too late, but the Lincoln Park Binny's had 4-Packs of Barleywine for sale over the weekend. 1 4-Pack Per Person, just sitting out on the floor between beer aisles.

Logan Square Pantry ($30 limit 1) and Diala Grocery & Liquor ($40) in Lincoln Square

I saw both a few days back, apologies in advance if they happen to have sold out since. I will say though that Logan Square Pantry seems to have had a pretty steady stream of the stuff.

Yeah, social media tracking in general. That and friends calling friends/relatives/etc. It's brutal in these Chicago streets!
