Reds Rye basically got replaced by Black Rye. I'm all for the change.

The disappointment for me was seeing 6 months of Rubaeus. I don't like raspberries so I'm obviously not a big fan of the beer. Was also not fond of the news of Blushing Monk coming back to the Backstage series for the same reason. People seem to like that beer but is one that I will be skipping.

I agree with your comment about Rubaeus, even though I love raspberries and like my beer a bit sweet. Rubaeus is simply too sweet. Even the servers at Founders' brewpub suggest mixing it with other beers. I'm a huge fan of Curmudgeon, Backwoods Bastard, and Founders' other barrel-aged beers. However, it's baffling why they are so disinterested in producing a great amber ale or amber lager. I go to Great Lakes for that, even though Founders is down the street from me. Founders is great for stouts and IPAs, but some of us prefer to have an amber ale for our everyday brew.

this. its decent when you mix it with the Porter or Curmudgeon. sadly, you can still find it all over the place. with a six month slot, basically going to be on shelves year round.

on another note, finally snagged some Black Rye. enjoyed it.

I was a huge fan of last year's Harvest Ale. Will be looking forward to that one this year.

Founders mentioned atleast a year ago that Reds Rye will not be bottled anymore...It has a 90 day shelf life and they kept seeing it in stores after the 90 days so they decided not to bottle it..It will still be available on draft..

Also, I love Rubaeus..Its a damn fine beer..I also find it funny someone above mentioned they dont like it and said
"you can tell by the ratings it gets".. Yep..What trash of a beer only having a very good rating...SMH

There is still Devil Dancer sitting on the shelves at my local spot. Not sure why they love brewing it so much. It can't sell that well at its price point.

Nice. I actually just cracked one a week or so ago and it is still drinking pretty well. Still hoppy. I agree about the pricing. Some stores jack up the prices on the limited releases.

Had Black Rye last night. A good beer for sure, but not close to Red's Rye in my opinion. And different enough that they could have easily kept both in their lineup at the expense of a few months of Rubaeus, especially since they are clearly still brewing Red's.

@tommyz - I remember there being talk of Red's bottles sitting on shelves and being out of code, but that was the explanation for pulling it back to be a 4-pack seasonal only in bottles (while remaining year-round on draft), not a reason or suggestion for It being eliminated from bottles completely.

Any idea if All Night IPA will ever get distribution? I heard from a friend they were gonna make more of it. Can't get enough All Day here in FL, but it would be nice to switch to the darker side of session ales.

Wow, after recently starting to explore craft brews, and getting all hyped up for KBS, I figure out that they don't distribute in Colorado. Of course, I may just make a trip back home to the east coast around April. How fast does it come off the shelves?

I was able to get breakfast stout for at least 9 months 2013 into 2014 release. It seems to be in abundance again this year, maybe not quite as much, however always in everyone's cooler. Founders is always experimenting with new beers and has added a lot to the line up. The release schedule reflects the the brew schedule, they must need the fermentors for something else.

I'd like to see their oatmeal stout bottled. Also, I would like to see them stop bottling devil dancer and move something tastier in that slot.

I can say that during it's run in bottles I rarely bought RR and it's probably my favorite of their year rounders. Immediately when they yanked it I started drinking it like crazy, albeit on draft and in growlers. I think that Founders did do a great job explaining the reasoning behind pulling it from the yearly bottle rotation, it had the shortest shelf life of any of their bottled beers.

I have honestly never seen anyone mix Rubaeus with curmudgeon. I have however seen it mixed with Pale, Centennial, Imperial, and probably most often with Breakfast Stout and then some others. That said I don't ever drink Rubaeus straight, almost exclusively w/FBS.

Haha!! Yes!! Probably their better of the two session IPA's and no one knows about it!! I recently turned my wife on to all night and now it's all she asks for when I run to the taproom. I would love this beer in cans especially for the winter months. Also, lately they've had a session stout running their and that too is great, Cheers!!

Red's Rye was my personal favorite from Founders. I'm hoping for a return in the future.
