Didn't realize there was a lot of Rebel hate on this board. I enjoyed Rebel the numerous times I've had it on tap at local bars. I think most of the hate on the beer is because of the brewery name attached to it. I may be in the minority but I love me some Sam Adams.

Best thing about Sam Adams' beer - readily available and priced right.

Not to mention they seem to give a damn about packaging too. All brown glass and tall-sided 6-packs to keep light out. They may get some hate from people in the community but Sam Adams still makes a couple of serviceable beers. Rebel isn't half bad if there isn't something else to go with. I'll be happy to give this one a shot.

That would be rather awesome. I was speculating based on what's being sold currently. We don't really deal with the smaller-batched beers at my brewery so we probably won't be dealing with the Rebel Rouser here.

    It's also available in 12oz 4-packs.

What's rebel about it? Debuting after the trend? :astonished:

Kind of like the IPA and the double IPA before it. You can tell that the marketing department for BBC thinks very highly of "craft" beer consumers.

I think the marketing dept at Sam Adams is doing just fine. They seem to be part of a very well-oiled machine that is insanely successful. Just because the biggest beer nerd in the world doesn't get excited about a SA IIPA doesn't mean the average person just getting started in craft beer won't be. They don't necessarily market to the folks who spends hours on BA. They market to a bigger audience (some may be on here... i'm one of them) who aren't neck-deep in the craft beer world.

I had an interesting experience last night. I was picking up a 12-pack to have on hand for New Year's Eve guests, and I actually paused when I saw the SA Winter mix pack. I said to myself, "nobody's going to want White Christmas, Winter, and Old Fezziwig now that the holidays are over." I knew this was a crazy reaction, but I couldn't fight it. I picked up a 12 of Boston Lager and moved on.

    Rebel Rouser Hops
-Bravo, Galaxy, Zeus, Simcoe, Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo

    Rebel Rider Hops
    - Citra, Topaz, Cascade, Centennial, Simcoe

The early samples of Rouser I had on draft were excellent, extremely hoppy and clean. Rouser and Rider both use only pale malt, where as regular rebel has pale malt and caramel 20. IMO Rouser, and Rider are the 2 best IPA's the brewery has released to the market, the hop profile in both of these beers is definitely pronounced for there respective styles.

These IPA's are MUCH MUCH better than past releases in the IPA category(Rebel IPA, Tasman Red, Third Voyage, Grumpy Monk, etc). I don't know if any changes have been made to the recipes of these beers since I tasted them, but the versions of Rider, and Rouser I tasted were both very very solid

I really like Lattitude 48 IPA and Tasman Red. I think for me REBEL IPA failed as it was marketed as "West Coast" and to me it tasted nothing like a west coast IPA (SN Torpedo/Lagunitas/Stone/Alpine/Etc). It tasted like a malty sort of west coast IPA. Still good but not what it was targeted as.

I think fresh Latitude is a solid IPA. To me, it tastes like New Holland Mad Hatter.

Thank you! I will grab one of these packs, I am curious about the Pale Ale and I can enjoy the other beers too.

That's a shame about Alpine Spring, I know a lot of people who enjoyed it and even on this forum you can find a lot of fans...and I agree, would be a great summer beer too.

I think this is because the winter beers are so closely tied in with the holidays and since the holidays start before Halloween now, by the time they are here, you are ready for them to be over.

I noticed on SA's facebook page that they posted a pic of Cold Snap, and a lot of people were asking for Alpine Spring to make a return. :grinning:

I am now seeing the spring pack everywhere around me, was going to grab one but decided to wait because I have some other beers on hand I want to drink up first. Also, not too thrilled with seeing that Cold Snap was one of the 4 formats, would have preferred it to be Escape Route instead. Oh well.

Rebel wasn't terrible so this one is worth a try and at 8.4% you wont feel like you wasted your money for nothing.

I'll give this a try. Why not? If nothing else, Sam Adams makes some incredibly drinkable beers (Noble Pils especially). I thought Rebel IPA was fine. Nothing mind blowing, but certainly nothing I'd turn my nose up at.
