Also willing to host said share. And contribute something whaleish, obviously.

Does De Garde allow for shares? If not, let's plan on doing in line at Fantasia for the time being.
Apparently Friday night is when we're doing special dress up night (so bad day for whale share). Saturday we are heading to De Garde in the morning, back in evening for Trailblazers vs. Hawks game at 7pm and hopefully more fantasia on top. :-)

If down, below is an example of a spreadsheet we are using for a share happening in SF on the 10th. Feel free to add beers or add your name next to a beer you want to bring. We had a system of requiring at least 3 attendees approval/initials so that people were not bringing subpar beers (keeping it democratic).

Leaving tomorrow, so add your name(s)/beer(s) if interested so I know to bring a whale or two in addition to what I already planned to bring to share:

*ahem* Surely no one is planning on illegally drinking in public outside of a brewery who has explicitly asked people not to do such things out of respect for their license.

The share looks cool. I just don't have any of those sought after beers. Was planning on going to de garde then to upright.

Going next day. Trying to convince gf to go there first. Both places are saying there is more than enough to last to their wildest expectations. Though, if it's anything like the Masterpiece release with no bottle limits, I'll be blaming John St. Charles. ;-)

There was no limits on de garde stuff before and it lasted over the weekend. Though I don't know the amounts of these new releases. Seems when they do no limits they have a lot. They aren't f#cking short sided like 5050 was.

Not 400 bottles with 130 people present? That sounds smart to me. But, let's stop here and not turn this peaceful PDX forum into a CA forum that eventually gets deleted. ;-)
Still....how are you going to Tillamook (1:30 hours away, opens at 3pm) and getting back for the Fantasia release? I don't know your schedule, but wouldn't it make more sense to go Saturday, when De Garde opens at noon, and relax more? Go to Upright (4:30), enjoy beers for 1-1:30 hours, then head to HotD and do a share of their vintage beers before heading to dinner.

Anyway...Back to the topic at hand...bottleshare? When? Where? Who is down, what are you bringing, use the spreadsheet (doesn't need to be whalez since that doesn't seem to be happening...just put your name and what you're bringing, 1-2 750s max).

I could do a share at De Garde or another time. Unfortunately my Whale worthy beers are all in Nashville at the moment, but I may be able to come up with something. I'm trying to figure out whether to hit De Garde Friday or Saturday as well.

We here in the NW don't asterisk our shares with *not bringing subpar beers and/or announce that you have x beers but somebody HAS to bring y beers to partake. Just not how we roll here. We're more laid back. You may have rubbed people the wrong way Mr @HaveUSeenMyCellar (I'm sure that's never happened before )

Its more like, "here's a place and time. I've already notified the right people, here's a spreadsheet, see you there. "

And really, bottle sharing just happens around here. There will be plenty of sharing at Upright, inside, when it opens. There will be a ton of people there, but most people just get their bottles/mule bottles and leave. deGarde is the perfect place to share as well. Just show up with something. People bring stuff all the time.

Just enjoy yourself. Only bring something you WANT to share, regardless of what somebody else is bringing. This is definitely NOT like the CA beer scene. You'll realize that real quick.

Sounds good to me. I think we're saying the same thing.

I've to upright releases where people share in the hallway outside, but do people also do bottle shares inside? I guess I've never paid attentiontion.. I'll bring some cool stuff if so..

People attending the release can do whatever they want of course, but I believe Kevin's post is spot on. I was trying to find a copy of the old post from a previous Upright release (no luck there, unfortunately), but my recollection is that Upright has specifically asked attendees NOT to conduct bottle shares during release events, either inside or outside of their building.

I couldn't find a post either. But I know Alex is not comfortable with people violating the law and drinking in the hallway since he could get in trouble for it. With that said, it happens. Will happen. Just clean up after yourself!!! Last year people left empty bottles and plastic cups in the hallway. Not cool.

its one of those "don't talk about fight club" things. The more people openly talk about sharing in line, the more it will be policed and ultimately forbidden.

Does not need to happen. A bottle share is not mandatory. Especially if there is already some level of understanding that the host "is not comfortable with people violating the law and drinking in the hallway since he could get in trouble for it".

I'm just excited for the cheap pours of Fantasia and ten hitting HOTD to destroy their vintage list with some good people and my lovely lady. :-)
See you all shortly (leaving apex and beermongers in 10-15).

No line still, but we did get yelled at by Adidas filming Mia hamm, saying we are being too loud. Who films on fantasia release day in the basement.
