I was reviewing Natty Greene's Dry-Hopped Southern Pale Ale and thought to myself how much better their Freedom IPA is, but then it made me wonder: Is there a brewery who brews a pale ale that's better than their IPA?

    Some might say FFF.

Also, it's not a well known brewery at all but 8 Days a Week by Beer'd in CT. might very well be their best offering. They have some DIPAs that are close, though.

I prefer Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to Torpedo, and Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale to Deviant Dale's

I also prefer Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to their Torpedo IPA, but both are very good.

Great Rhythm Brewing in NH - though a contract brand - definitely has a better pale ale than IPA.

FFF for sure, but it is cheating a bit since they don't really make a regular IPA as part of their 12oz bottle line. They just make 2 hoppy higher ABV pale ales that are pretty much IPAs anyway.

Are we considering Anchor Liberty Ale a Pale Ale? If so, I'd suggest them, too.

SN and Lagunitas were the first two I thought of as well.

Wow I guess I'm the only one but I would rather have Torpedo than SNPA

I love pale ale the same way so many folks love IPAs. So far, SN makes the best pale ale I've found yet.

I think Boulevard's Pale Ale is better than their Pop-up IPA.

Deschutes Red Chair IPA was inferior to the present day Red Chair NWPA. I guess that's why the former got retired. Similar situation with Grand Teton's Sweetgrass.

You could argue that PsuedoSue is better than Golden Nugget. Although Toppling Goliath has a lot of pales and IPAs (Sosus, hopsmack, etc...)

I think Hill Farmstead Edward is better than Susan in the sense that I think Edward is the best APA out there while Susan is just another "outstanding" IPA with many other IPAs that I think are better.
