Deviant Dale's 6/13 canning tasting like onions?

It's always had that wild onion smell flavor to it. It's their hop profile.

 

Yup, had one a couple months ago and it was definitely onion-y. Pretty sure that’s normal given how many reviews mention it.

 

Less alcohol but same taste as Gubna

 

People need to realize that hops come in variations other than citrus...

 

Maybe it's just something you ate. If you liked it before and don't like it now, there's a higher probability of there being an issue with your mouth rather than the beer. I haven't had this particular batch but I've never experienced any of the issues a lot of people have with Deviant Dales and Gubna. Frankly I think Deviant Dales smells fucking incredible.

 

Let's not forget 'feet' as well as the onions. It was all buried under a mountain of dank, but it was definitely there for the fourpack that I had when it first came out. It was an interesting beer, but I don't think I'll be getting another.

 

Pinesol disenfectant was the first smell that came to mind when I had it

 

I haven't had the newest batch yet, but the last one definitely had an oniony quality about it...as with Gubna. But, my cans were 30-45 days old, so the new cans just might be more potent. Don't know how old the cans from last batch was that you had though...

It's possible. Oskar Blues generally has pretty consistent quality, but I have had an issue or two here and there. I had a 4 pack of Ten Fidy where 2 cans were completely flat. I emailed them and they immediately offered to ship me a new 4-pack, and they included some swag in the box, so you may want to consider doing that. I still buy them because they're good people with awesome customer service, but quite frankly their prices BLOW.

 

Yeah, the prices for their beer is a bit... high for what it is.

Dales Pale Ale is a great stand by though, so I won't hate. Deviant Dales is good, but... it does have the onion and the danky wet feet smell.

 

$14 for 48oz of a fantastic RIS like Ten Fidy is "high for what it is"?

Perception is deception...

 

It's more than that here.. I think it's close to $16.. So it's around the point where I have to really work it out in my head if I want it that bad.

The Deviant Dales is roughly the same price for the 4 pack of tall boys. Not really worth it to me for what it is. I can get something I favor a bit more for the same or less in most cases.

 

FWIW- I found the dominant, very fresh 'dank' quality to be quite nice, and overall I liked what I had. The onions and feet part were what I'd call secondary characteristics that came out the more that I had the beer. My fear at the time was that the good, fresh qualities would fade and then the beer would be undesirable- so I drank it all as quickly as I could. Unfortunately now we have a 'new' batch that doesn't seem so good.

 

Markets do vary. I guess my point is that there is no shortage of hyped up stouts that run he buyer $10-15+ for a mere bomber, while at the same time, there's no shortage of people that will become appalled at a pack of beer that costs $14 or even $16...and it's equally as good.

I still really think perception has a lot to do with things...

 

I fucking love onions. On my way to the store right now to buy the new Dale's.
