We'll be in Philly this month as a part of our annual trip to DFH.

We'll be stopping by Monk's as part of tradition but we'll be wanting to hit up places that have just opened within in the past year that are also worthy. Thoughts?

Looking for Center City only, or places in the suburbs you can hit on the drive in/out?

For now ... Center City. We already have plans to visit Victory, Sly Fox, & Tired Hands on another day.

Jerry's Bar in Northern Liberties and Barcade in Fishtown are relatively new. Jerry's food is also outstanding, highly recommend the hanger steak. City Tap House just opened a location in place of the old Publick House. Not too shabby with the list. Check PhillyTapFinder.com for current tap lists for all these bars.

Relatively new to the area myself, but as I understand it Tria Taproom is quite new. Always a great selection, cool realtime draft list, and good flatbreads. Strangelove's is also pretty new, good food and beer both. And 2nd Story Brewing is very new, only been there once but the beers I tried were excellent and it's a great space.

Have to agree on 2nd Story. Went there in November and loved everything about it.

Check out Brü Craft & Wurst at 13th & Chestnut, early on when it's less crowded.

Bru usually has a good tap list and the bottle list in terms of wild ale/sour beers is pretty good normally. Maybe on the slightly pricier side but tria taproom on 19th and chestnut always has a great tap list and the wings are spot on.

I second Strangelove's (same crew as Memphis Taproom and I know you guys were big on them) and Tria Taproom. Open for a couple years now but I'd throw in Alla Spina as well.

There is now a second City Tap House at 2 Logan Square. I have not been to this new location but it sounds to be very similar to the University City location. They have 40ish beers on tap.

    Cheers!

If you haven't been to Strangelove's, go. They seem to be big on lower alcohol beers, something of a rarity these days.

2nd story brewing in old city is worth the stop. It's Also conveniently across the street from the old standby Eulogy.

I'd recommend checking out Forest & Main in Ambler, PA while you're at it.

Why isn't Earth Bread and Brew mentioned more often?

I found them to be on the same level as Tired Hands.

This could easily be a possibility ... thanks.

Was thinking of checking them out ... how different is 2nd Story from the previous brewpub that was there?

Eulogy ... way too much weird vibe / attitude during both visits. If I'm going to do Belgian then Monk's it is ... also with Khyber Pass being right there they are a lot more fun. ;-)

Good pick, we were there during our last visit to the area ... not sure if we'll have time.

Huge TV's are not my thing ... bartender's uniforms look ridiculous as well. :astonished: Good selection from what I can see but I'll pass on this place.

Strangelove's might be a great stop before we fly out ... thanks for that. Alla Spina looks very interesting.

Strangelove's and Alla Spina are both my favorite places. I didn't mention them at first because both have been opened for well over a year.
