Did a title search but couldn't find anything. Where's a good spot for food and a good draft list that is OK for minors? We're staying right next to the convention center. Other than Liberty Station.... Thanks fellas
I actually saw that, but we hit it so often in Huntington I didn't consider it, it's a good option though.
I don't travel downtown all that much so not certain of other family/kid-friendly beer-centric places. I have no offspring of my own so I never really consider it when I look around for places. Slaters 50/50 can get old after a while but still a rather impressive draft list for what it is.
May be a bit out of your way (Pacific Beach) and I'm a bit of a homer but Iron Pig Alehouse is very kid friendly. I've got 40 rotating taps, a giant smoker full of delicious meat AND six High chairs for the gerbils of varying size. As a father of a two year old, I take pride in cultivating an atmosphere that parents and non-parents can coexist. Cheers!
Get some Phil's to go and hang out at Modern Times. They have a table of colored pencils, checkers, etc. We do it with our 4 and 2 yr old. Always a good time.
Iron Pig looks cool, 9 miles from is a bit of a trek. Stone IPA on nitro and Expedition stout are tempting.
The food there is damn good, people recommend Phils - which is great if you want meat slathered in sauce - but for actual BBQ, Iron Pig has quickly established itself as a far better choice, especially with the solid tap list they have.
So it is YOUR children always taking the colored pencils. Those times when you just want to color while drinking a Black House....
Hey Jesse, Phil's BBQ is a must stop. Great (not the best) bbq food and a decent tap. But it can be very busy. You may have to wait in line a bit, but it moves pretty quick. Modern Times has lots of room and good beers. But the area is not all that great. I think it's near an adult video store. Pizza Port OB is nice. If you guys are doing the Sea World thing then your close to all those places. Have fun bro.
Hehe, now that I reread this I see you typed "I've got", I thought you were just a BA that strangely knew Iron Pig had 6 high chairs lol. Iron Pig was bomb, the charged a fair price for Pugachev's Cobra and the ribs were the shit!
Waypoint Public in North Park is your best bet for a good beer list. Kids play area in the back. Same owners as Bottlecraft so always something good on tap. Also seen kids in Toronado during the day.
Just came back from 3rd trip there with kid. Waypoint, any and all Breweries (societe, modern times etc), toronado, and the others listed.. breweries are most fun though as they're spacious. do spend a lot of time at the park too, they have so many cool things for kids.. not sure how little yours is but we found playgrounds, fascination model train museum, oldest puppet theater, train rides, merry go rounds and of course the zoo. boat rentals are fun as well.. you can do one right at the harbor but we like little lakes (like murray) which is close to alpine.... not sure why you have to stay downtown. asslamp gets lame after 10 minutes. we airbnb'ed at north park (right by beer street) in an appt cheaper than hotels
