Two Hearted would be great if it is truly 'new' people, but if that's a "been there done that" for them, I wouldn't shy away from more adventurous fare; you don't want to fry your palette, but nothing wrong with giving it something interesting either.

I'd just make sure to keep a steady pace; palette cleansing with a different type of beer is still drinking beer. If these folks aren't accustomed to large quantities of beer, particularly stronger ones (case races of natty light don't count) you could wind up with a bunch of dudes in over their head in a hurry, and a bunch of really nice half-drank bottles. Hope I don't sound like the moderation police, but I think these components are as important as the beer-related ones.

They are accustomed to large quantities of craft beer and can appreciate better beers and can tell the difference in them. They just don't drink outside of our distribution. That's why I'm providing the bottles. Most are new to me and all will be new to them. a few of these beers are from this group. Here is what I am thinking about:
These are for sure-Focal Banger, Yellow Rose, PW Nelson, Night Shift Bean Porter, Hunahpus, Perrin Kill Em All

Possibilities- Pretty Things Jack D'or, Cisco Monomy Kriek, HA Big Hugs. These will depend how many guys show up but it's looking like 5.

We usually also go light to dark, but for most of our tastings it tends to be pretty dark from the outset. To me the hard style to place in the lineup are the sours. Putting a sour right behind a hop bomb makes it seem even more sour. And for some reason any beer that I drink after a sour seems to have an extra twang to it that truly isn't there. It's hard for me to get the sour clensed out of my pallete.

Like other have said, plenty of water and snacks for pallete clensing. For snacks I really like regular plain tortilla chips and also plain crackers (like ritz or toll house). Be careful of spicy snacks as they really screw up your taste buds.

Got it, your original post sounded to me like they were the guys who drink Founders All Day because it's local but have no idea what KBS is. I'd definitely add the possibilities even over one of the IPAs just to amp up the variety of styles. Have fun!

Sour then snack is how I do it; especially if there's cheese.

Funk from sour + funk from cheese = great match, then something like a piece of meat, which would go well with the cheese, and then into a stout from some meat. Easy progression that takes away the issues you mention. And +1 on your point about spicy; I LOVE spicy food, but it kills the next beer you try, so unless it's time for Two Hearted, skip the chili and pepper shooters.

Can't quote on mobile either bear with me

For nugget nectar, reason I think cases of cans will be unavailable is the website release info specifically lists cases and six packs for bottles, but only says 4 packs for cans, says nothing about cases

Are those new labels on the old hickory, or old bottles?

I normally do not like to do sours in this kind of tasting, for the reason given. If I do, at the end, even after the stouts. If it is a bottle share, then everything is fair game.

What I really like to do is each tasting is all one style so we can compare. Maybe stouts with a mix of stout styles. Maybe ipas at the next tasting, etc. Just need to do it several times do they get all the various styles.

But, it is beer, and there is no wrong way to do it. Enjoy. Your friends are lucky to have someone to share like this!

For me personally, the first two beers I'd drink from your definite list are the Yellow Rose, right into the Hunahpu. I completely understand where most of you guys are coming from with the light to dark mentality. But for me, I like to drink the best beer, or beer I am most forward to trying first. This way I have a cleaner pallet, am not buzzed or intoxicated and can really focus on that "special" beer. Sometimes, saving the big boys for last can get lost in the night.

But, for tomorrow's tasting Ian, I think you'll be pretty good with what others have said. Just wanted to share my $0.02

I was thinking something along those lines. Yellow Rose, Hunahpus and Focal are going to be the first three I think. Maybe the Jack D'or after Hunahpus then Focal. Like you said, I don't want the big boys to get lost.

Yellow Rose into Huna sounds amazing but where do you really go from there? Hard to top that.
Maybe Focal Banger and Bean Porter?

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I will probably rotate IPAs and stouts/porters. Will do Killem all last. These guys are mainly fans of stouts and IPAs hunch the beers I picked. I'm gonna skip the Kriek tomorrow. I have other beers I can pull out if need be. It will depend on who all shows up and how drunk we get.

VBS - Found this in the back of my fridge. Surprisingly still very fresh for being canned in October.

As I'm recovering from an illness and recovering from a "little" bottle share last night I've tallied up the LIF I'm hosting. And....there was only 1 person who picked both teams correctly. So, @I_BYE_MI_BEER you sir are the winner. No need to wait till the championship game. Congratulations. Just send me a BM with your info and a box will be coming your way very soon.

    Unbelievable

Just had a hunch about Ohio State - Bama has been very good all year but just didn't fell like the powerhouse like years past.

    Thanks!

Well @Dave_Treat brought the pain to my porch this morning and I couldn't be happier. Apparently he thought this was called the Not Summer Elevener, because I got 11 badass brews on my porch. Hit loads of wants and kept everything in the styles I love most!! PRRRRRRoNnnnZ

    Adroit Theory Snifter- Awesome!
Devil's Blackbone - Wood Aged Kilt Flasher -- love barrel aged scotch ales, cannot wait...
Lost Rhino - Woody Stout -- Yes, you know I love BA stouts, this sounds great!
3 Brothers - Atramentous -- Had this once before and enjoyed it, reminded me of Tart of Darkness...
DuClaw - Retribution -- WANT, had this side by side with Parabola in July and thought it was just as good, awesome
FFF - Permanent Funeral -- PERMAWANT, one of my favorite IPAs, I guess Dave managed to track down a bottle for me...
Hardywood GBS & Bourbon GBS -- both MAJOR WANTS, I sense a side by side coming in the near future!
Adroit Theory - B/A/Y/S (Black As Your Soul) - Rum Barrel Aged & Cognac Barrel Aged -- Damn dude, another side by side, this soundS freaking delicious!
Brew Kettle - White Rajah -- WANT, somehow I'd never had this, now I have.. see below
Starr Hill Shakedown -- Chocolate, cherries, stout... yum

Well he certainly went above and beyond with this first box he sent out in the Locals thread. This is truly awesome and I'm super psyched about all of these.

    Thanks Dave!!!
