If you have the means and the time, there is no too far. Do what you love and experience what you want to experience. To me, vacationing and beer goes hand in hand. It's easier to get the culture and feel of a place by visiting a brewery than in nearly any other place I can think of, especially something else considered touristy. I plan on visiting a brewery in all 50 states, Canada, Belgium and the U.K.

Here and Portland you can visit that many within 5 miles of city hall. Parking the Motorhome might be a problem though.

My favorite pub is the Blue Blazer in Edinburgh -- try to get there at least evey other year. It's a short 8 hour trip from Boston.

SARA is about 1.45 hours from here. I drive regularly to RR which is about 1.3 hours. I think my limit is about 2 hours one way, unless there is a lot of different places and people to see and then I'm ok with going further. Planning to drive to portland (10 hours) soon primarily for beer.

About 4 hours is my limit, which gets me to Westbrook and Wicked Weed.

If you can get there and back without having to sleep then I don't consider it too far.

My outside sales territory includes Russian River, Lagunitas, Bear Republic, Cellarmaker, Sante Adarius, Moyland's, Sierra Nevada etc, so I have to stop in every 5-6 weeks.... some more than others.

    Poor me.

10 minutes into central London and I have plenty to choose from. If it was practicable in terms of time I would happily fly to the states and do an epic cross county road trip taking in all the best spots. We are getting good beers from America over here but nothing like the choice you guys have.

It balances out. We don't have near the cask selection you fine folk have.

Instead of asking "how far is too far," perhaps ask, "what's worth it."

About an hour is as far as I will go just for beer. Obviously, if I am out of town for other reasons, I will try to hit up all the local breweries/beer places that would usually be out of my range.

I make a run to FFF fairly regularly just under 2.5. Just ran to Milwaukee with kids 3plus hours...worth it.
