I just completed an IP trade today for Prop '14 - I gave up Fen Tao+Lineage Rye+Consecration.

While I see your point nobody really agrees with you. Bavss has a 100 out of a 100 just like prop. So taste wise while subjective to the overall community is the same. Don't know why your telling us your a coffee geek but that's cool man. And even to that point in the coffee world once again they don't agree with you. Kopi and Vietnamese beans sell for a lot for a reason lol

I really wasn't intending on trading a Vanilla but was offered and accepted:
    Backyard
    Darkness '14
    Uncle Jacob's Stout
    Focal Banger
    4:1

Full disclosure: he didn't want to do extras, but I sent a 3 day old Pseudo Sue and CW BB Stout to fill the box.

Yes, and it was rather one sided.

    I've also done:

    Vanilla for Caffe Americano
    Vanilla for 2 DBPT5 and 3 BBPT5
Vanilla, Backyard and 2 BCBCS for Lawson's Maple Triple, NEBCO Smoke Detector, HF Anna, Nordic Saison, Convivial Suarez and Allagash Coolship Resurgam (I got crushed on this one but the share that ensued was worth it).

Trade a prop to a CA trader for a surprise box of CA beers. It is in route and I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival. Can't wait to see what's inside.

I'm doing this same thing with a PA trader I've done multiple trades with before! I much prefer this approach instead of trying to haggle over beer.

It's the first time doing this but the CA trader has a great reputation and I've proxied for him before. The thank you box was amazing so I'm looking forward to whatever he sends. I'm more than happy to be generous with a reputable/respected BA.

Traded my '13 prop for a '14 prop + KBS
then traded 2x14 prop and 2xbcbcs for a Rare
Also sent a cali trading partner a '14 prop and vanilla for a box from him later

Now I have no prop :slight_frown: but the Rare was the last piece for a full bourbon county lineup tasting between a small group of friends so I'm not even mad!

So 13's are trading for more than 14's? I would've guessed it's the opposite given the coconut notes in the 13's have probably faded.

I think they're trading more 1:1 now. I made this trade pretty much right after release. Seems fair though based on how much 13 is out there compared to 14. Also, I've had 13 prop twice in the last 3 months and they were both coconut bombs. I think it has more to do with bottle variation/storing conditions than fading.

How much Coffee do you think needs to be added to a Vanilla Rye to land a Prop?

I'm sure there are varying opinions, so I think it depends if you want to be patient or just lock one up with no haggling. Some people have seen them go 1:1 with no plus on either side, but I would guess those are going to be more rare now that we're further away from the release. 1xBCBCS is certainly a great plus and *should* get you an offer, but my humble opinion is 2xBCBCS would be a no-brainer for someone with a Prop. Again, that's just my 2 cents and I'm sure the are other opinions about it that are just as relevant.

You enjoy bavss, I dont. Tastes vary. I wouldn't agree with the comparison between bourbon barrels and coffee beans either. While there may not b3 a big difference between bourbon barrels, there's a huge difference in flavor in coffee beans. A Vietnamese bean tastes nothing like an Ethiopian bean which tastes nothing like a Sumatra bean, and so on. I'll just say again, my opinion is it was a poor choice and it adds an unpleasant flavor to the beer. Those are my taste buds, sorry.
