Bourbon County Stout: zero head, "5" for look?

    The two pours I had tonight featured about half a finger head on them, which dissipated after 1-2 minutes. Nothing to the extent of what's shown in the photo on the web site, but at least something to hang one's hat on.

    Ha! Exactly what I was thinking! Maybe the OP should pour the beer like man and then it would have a better looking head to suit his visual appreciation on this beer! :wink:

    Also, High ABV stouts are normally going to have a smaller head than other beer styles. More times than not if the beer is barrel aged it will have a smaller head as well. OP rate the beer how you feel it should be and so will everyone else we all have opinions. Not everyone is going to agree.

    Many retailers use shelf-talkers to sell beer. And the higher a beer's rating on BA, the more likely someone will seek that beer out. There are real world implications to rating, so expecting others to adhere to the most basic set of standards while reviewing is a noble and worthy cause (even if most likely futile).

    You're right, I probably lack the sufficient testosterone levels to properly pour a beer, let alone drink it. My frail wrist just feels so weak holding that heavy 12oz bottle... In case you missed it, I did address this question here.

    No, I think it's more likely that the high ABV + barrel-aging affected this beer's capacity to develop any respectable level of head. It's OK, I'm over it. And I prefer Parabola anyway.
