All this Sam Adams hate is stupid. They make beer better than almost all breweries out there; with some misses. Boston Lager is a classic just like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Cream Stout is great; Oktoberfest and winter lager are good. They are big bc they were making great beer in th US when almost nobody else was. It doesn't have to be barrel aged with 80 ibus to be a good; or even interesting beer.

I have no interest in trying this....honestly? a west coast double ipa? yeah thats groundbreaking territory there....if its anything like rebel ipa ill expect a mild, dumbed down version of a beer style that was perfected years ago by better breweries

I absolutely love Rebel. But I don't think I've had a bad double IPA. I guess its just my taste. Does anyone else like DIPAs and still despise Rebel?

So you either haven't tried more than a couple SA beers or you don't appreciate beers that aren't your favorite styles. I don't know how anyone who appreciates beer could say SA Boston Lager is horrible. I'm not trying to defend SA and say they make awesome beers, I almost never buy them but they make some pretty solid stuff.

So what is the new Spring Pack? I loved Alpine. Was not a fan of Cold Snap.

This. It's so easy to lose focus and perspective when you become passionate about a hobby. I remember discussing Rebel when it first came out, and my description for it was "It's pretty good. If I go to Buffalo Wild Wings with a group of friends and Rebel is the best thing on tap, I won't be excited, but I won't be disappointed either". People are absolutely letting their irrational hatred for a "big" company affect their experience with these beers.

I'll be more than happy to give these new Rebel variants a try. Again, I probably won't be buying them in place of Enjoy By or Two Hearted, but I won't complain that there will now be two additional pretty good IPAs available in places where there weren't before.

I wouldn't say I despise Rebel. It's simply not an IPA. As a pale ale, it's a nice beer. I think I gave it a 3/5 on Untappd.

Cold Snap, Escape Route, Boston Lager, Crystal Pale Ale (a new APA), and it looks like we're throwing Irish Red in this year.

I think their strategy is to use the label art to fool BrewDog fans into mistakenly buying their inferior beer.

As long as I can get it fresh out here, I won't descriminate. Move to Hawai'i, you'll be less picky like me and appreciate what you can get... beer wise.

Sounds pretty good. I have always liked the Sam Irish Red. I miss the Revolutionary Rye...

They probably would have had a better reception with Rebel if they had called it a pale ale instead of an ipa.

Has anyone gotten any news on the release date of Rebel rouser?

Excited to try it! Reminds of a girl named Beth, she was my first and I will always have a warm place in my heart for her. Rebel is often my best choice if I am out to dinner with the family. Sam Adams got me into American craft beers.

While Rebel IPA may not be my favorite, I find it to be a decent IPA...Looking forward to the Double IPA.. As for the rest of Sam Adams, I used to drink it in the 90s most of time....Now with the many choices out there, I pick up a six of BL, Double Agent or Latitude, or the Oktoberfest every so often...Also like SA Scotch Ale, Cream Stout, Tasmen Red, and The Vixen

I didn't care for Rebel IPA at all, but I will give this a try.

I'll be more than happy to give this a shot. I have to say though, I don't have high hopes after trying Rebel, which is a sad excuse for a "west coast IPA". Not that it's a bad beer in itself at all, it's just not anywhere near hoppy enough to fit the bill: a weak, subpar WC IPA, but a good APA.

On a positive note, Beer Geek Nation gave Rebel Rouser a fairly shining review (an A). While Chris does appear quite generous and uncritical with his reviews overall (gave Rebel a B, I'd go with a C as it's billed), it still restored a bit of faith for me. To speculate a bit, I'm thinking it'll be in the ballpark of NB Rampant - a good DIPA at a very good price.

I've never heard anyone call Sculpin a shelfturd. Or Two-hearted for that matter.

We literally just had a topic asking what the next 'Heady' was and dozens upon dozens upon dozens of different IPAs were listed.

If it's twice as hoppy as Rebel, it might even taste like a bad pale ale! Woo hoo!

Seriously, I'll try it and I hope it's good, because I have nothing against Sam Adams. I respect the brewery. I just think they've totally missed the boat on the IPA thing, even once they started trying.
