Welcome, and great first post! Good beer, good description, great music, and what's that stick? That label is unfamiliar.

    Anyway, welcome, and Prost!

I tried 2 new ones tonight.

The first was Devil's Advocate from Almanac

It didn't have the hoppiness that was promised, and I would have liked it a little more tart, but overall a very good beer.

The second one was Limbo IPA from Long Trail. If you like grapefruity IPA's (and I do) this one is for you. A real winner from Long Trail.

You'd think a business wouldn't want to be known as "The Idiot (insert name of kind of business)," but it sounds like Coronado has earned it!

Limbo is what made me start taking Long Trail seriously again. However most of their other offerings still don't excite me.

This was my new beer for today. I shared the bomber with my son and daughter in law. I must say it is the best pumpkin I have had. With two months age on it the malt really shined through. A small amount of spice gave it a nice mild flavor. Thumbs up.

Dude! That may be the most epically awesome NBS post I have read in a long time!! :grinning:
First off let me say I feel for you with yer wisdom teeth! Had mine out about 15 years ago and it was a nightmare. They found cysts under both of my bottom one's and that caused some "extra" cutting. Bone chips growing out for months! Had to use a special mouthwash that tasted like a high school gym locker smells. Horrible experience.:slight_frown: Hope you heal up soon!

What a great and well thought out gift from your brother!!! The notes, from what I can read are cool looking in the way they are written! Mica is one cool as Hell bro!:sunglasses:

    Cheers to you both!

Well, I survived a day of shoveling, plowing, and listening to returning vacationers wearing shorts and flip-flops snivel about the snow, which fell for most of the day. It was predicted we'd get from 4-7 inches today, and it might have happened (and it's still coming down). I decided to leave my smallish car at home and take the bus to and from work, and enjoyed the time I could spend quietly reading a book, but the nearly half-mile slog back to my place from the nearest bus stop was a wee bit dispiriting this evening, particularly after my old snow boots more or less handed in their resignation midway home.

Now I'm warm and dry, have had a simple but enjoyable meal of spaghetti & meat balls under my belt, and have now had my new beer for Sunday, and all is well again.

That beer? An Imperial Rye IPA from Green Flash, which I left sitting too long and was 3 1/2 weeks past it's best-by date.

Although I'd have liked to remembered to have drunk this when it was fresher, it didn't seem the worse for wear, and actually seemed quite well balanced. Green Flash has yet to disappoint me.

    Do these count?

(Boat, Molotov Cocktail Simcoe, BA Vanilla Shake, BBPt5, Biere de Miel, Gilded Lily, Overhead, Duck Rabbit 10th Anniversary, Spontancherryfrederiksdal, Capricious, Lover's Greed, Big Lushious, Feral One, 077XX, Coffee)

I needed this (and that 32 oz. screw-top is Gilded Lily from Carton, quite unique)

    Highlights:

BA Vanilla Shake (much better than the base, the name fits this time, pureed vanilla straight up)
BBPt5 (much better than the base, lots of chocolate and tons of flavor, can't wait to get my bottle)
Spontancherryfrederiksdal (straight world-class cherry juice from world-class cherries, delicious)

Big Lushious needs to be in a smaller format or split amongst more than 4 people (we couldn't finish it, but it was the penultimate beer).

All new except the Biere de Miel and Coffee (did not imbibe).

    p.s. We missed you @Shroud0fdoom.

Thanks my man! He is a pretty amazing dude, even if he can get kind of caught up in hisself at times...
And yeah, impacted growing in sideways, causing all sorts of problems. I was convinced at the beginning of the week that I had dry socket (whatever the hell that actually is -- but it sure as hell does sound ominous, doesn't it??) or an infection because they weren't healing as quickly I'd expected, and looked like white around the edges in the mirror can be mildly hypocondriac at times, and it seems like my body hates healing, and will find any excuse to have complications when I have health issues, so I felt at least somewhat justified!). The dentist who performed the surgery dismissed the idea pretty quickly over the phone, and I'm glad to report that I'm finally convinced he may be right, and that it's just taking a long time to heal.

Since last y'all heard from me, I ventured out in search of a couple more of the brews I was planning on adding to my BIF box. Unfortunately struck out on the two main ones I set out to find, learning that the little-known IPA I was excited to send out may or may not actually be a seasonal release (obviously not this season, because why would it actually work out that way?), and either way wasn't available at either of the stops I made. I'll call the brewery tomorrow to find out if it's worth continuing to scour the city, or if it's just not out right now (consequently, this was also the brewery furthest away from my apartment out of the breweries I selected. It would only be about a half hour drive, but seeing as I don't have a car...). For the other one I set out in search of, I went to the brewery, a great newer place here in the city with surprisingly early closing time (seems to be a bit of a theme at some of my favourite taprooms down here...), and didn't have either of the specific selections I had in mind available, nor either of the two backups I was contemplating. Hmmm...
Did stumble upon a variant to one of my favourite big local releases, though, that I didn't even realize they were bottling, so maybe I'll put that in there instead...

Anyways, while I was out I had Reuben's Imperial Oatmeal Stout on nitro. This was new to me, and was smoothe and sweet and delicious. Bits of chocolate and coffee came through, and it was a lovely thing to sip on while starting a new book and lowkey observing the other patrons as closing time approached.

The OTHER new beer to me this fine sunday is the IPA from Worthy Brewing, located down Bend way. It felt like an appropriate follow up to the Port Townsend Porter from this afternoon: it is nothing special, won't ever stand out (especially in this modern era of bold IPAs, and especially coming from the beer mecca that is that little town in OR), but it is certainly drinkable, and certainly enjoyable. The hops tend more towards the generically floral/spicy with a touch of sweet before finishing mildly pithy. Drinkable. Enjoyable. But doesn't really stand out in any capacity.
