Would you still drink beer if it had no alcohol, but was the same in every other way?

If you're talking to me, I'm more talking about the "bro's" who seek out the highest ABV beers and brag about it.

"Hey broseph, check out this #### Beer, It's like 16 ABV, it'll f--- you up quick."

What about the roasty malt flavors? What about the hops? The lacing? The . . . ?

It's like a guy eating a $50 steak because he likes "salty food."

I like a buzz just as much as the next guy, if not, I wouldn't be drinking beer, I'd be drinking tea or lemonade or something

It was the poster who used the word juvenile more than anything. I mean, holy shit.

I know people aren't gonna like what I said, but I sure as shit won't blanketly judge people because they don't care about the buzz. To each their own, and last I checked, I'm not a judge. Hardly, in fact.

Simply put; I drink beer for what it has, and not what it doesn't.

I gotta admit...A couple of times, with 10% ABV+ beer in hand, I did find myself wishing it had lower alcohol so I could drink more of it.

It's a damn good thing there are hundreds of beers with much lower ABVs out there that are just as tasty as the big boys, no?

Getting a buzz is a nice benefit of drinking, even if you only have one or two high alcohol beers. The advantage though would being able to drink and drive or drink these 0 alcohol beers at any time of the day and not having it affect what you have going on in that day.

Most of the calories in beer don't come from the alcohol. Beer without alcohol but otherwise the same would close to the same caloric content as regular beer. OTOH there are other reasons alcohol makes you fat than just calories, which is probably where the idea that a lot of the calories in beer come from alcohol originates.

Absolutely. I would have a lot more hangovers if not.

You're fooling yourself based on a value judgement. I believe you aren't interested in getting drunk and you probably barely notice the relaxation that beer is bringing you, but I don't believe for a second you're not getting more from it than just taste.

I'm not judging anyone, I simply don't believe you or anyone else claiming that they don't drink beer at least somewhat for the buzz. You just don't like to admit that you're taking drugs to change you perception of the world. If you drink beer, you're doing a drug. I'll even allow that taste might be the primary thing you enjoy about beer (I do highly doubt this), but it isn't the only thing.

The fact is I probably wouldn't have started drinking beer without the alcohol and many others wouldn't have either. That being said, now that I do enjoy beer the way I do, I would drink more of it if I didn't get tanked thanks to beers with 10% ABV's. As long as the prices dropped a bunch of course.

You must have missed my earlier post. You're preaching to the choir, my friend.
